Martial Arts Legend Donnie Yen Joins John Wick 4

Martial arts legend Donnie Yen has joined the cast of upcoming sequel John Wick 4.

As reported by Deadline, the IP Man and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star will reportedly play an old friend of the titular assassin, who shares many of the same enemies as Wick.

He will star alongside Keanu Reeves’ returning hitman, and Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama who is playing a currently undisclosed titular role.

Director Chad Stahelski has revealed that he’s ecstatic Yen has come on board saying: “We are very lucky to have Donnie Yen join the franchise. I am looking forward to working with him in this exciting new role.”

Producer Basil Iwanyk added: “Donnie Yen will bring a vibrant and powerful energy to the franchise.

“We were determined to bring him on board to John Wick 4 and are thrilled for the opportunity to have such a major talent to collaborate with Keanu.”

Little is known about the upcoming sequel, but we do know that production is set to begin this summer with a script by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch.

John Wick 4 is currently scheduled for release on 27th May 2022.
