Multiverse adventure Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the 95th Academy Awards, taking home seven Oscars including Best Picture.
The hit film also won Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), Best Director (The Daniels), Best Editing, and Best Original Screenplay in a major night for Asian and Asian American representation.
It is the first time multiple Asian actors have won an Oscar in the same year, Yeoh became the second woman of colour to win Best Actress (following Halle Berry in 2002), and Quan became the first Vietnam-born actor to win an Academy Award.

Both of those actors delivered emotional speeches, with Yeoh telling the audience watching at home “for all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibility”.
Quan meanwhile seemed shocked that he won saying “they say stories like this only happen in the movies, I cannot believe this is happening to me”.
Director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known as The Daniels, were equally delighted, with Kwan thanking his immigrant parents for introducing him to film.

It was also a triumphant night for Netflix’s war drama All Quiet On The Western Front which won four awards: Best International Feature, Original Score, Production Design, and Cinematography.
Best Actor went to a very thankful Brendan Fraser for his acclaimed lead role in The Whale, with the star thanking his director Darren Aronofsky for providing him with “a creative lifeline” after taking a break from Hollywood for several years.
