Zawe Ashton Cast As Villain In Captain Marvel 2

Fresh Meat and Velvet Buzzsaw star Zawe Ashton has been cast as the villain in the upcoming sequel Captain Marvel 2.

Sources have told Deadline Ashton will square off against Brie Larson's Carol Danvers in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie which is set to be directed by Candyman's Nia DaCosta.

It is currently unclear who the villain is Ashton will be playing, but the sources add she will be the main antagonist of the movie.

Marvel Studios are yet to comment on the report.

The film will also star Iman Vellani, who has the titular role in the upcoming show Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris, who will reprise her role as Monica Rambeau who she currently plays in WandaVision.

Talking of WandaVision, one of the show's story editors, Megan McDonnell, has penned the script for the sequel which is due out next year.

Ashton once posted a photo on her Instagram of herself dressed as Carol Danvers so it's like this casting news was meant to be! We can't wait to see what she brings to the movie.
