Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) is living a happy and quiet life with his lawyer wife (Maria Bello) and their two children in the small town of Millbrook, Indiana, but one night their idyllic existence is shattered when Tom foils a vicious attempted robbery in his diner. Sensing danger, he takes action and saves his customers and friends in the self-defence killings of two-sought-after criminals.
Heralded as a hero, Tom's life is changed overnight, attracting a national media circus, which forces him into the spotlight. Uncomfortable with his newfound celebrity, Tom tries to return to the normalcy of his ordinary life only to be confronted by a mysterious and threatening man (Ed Harris) who arrives in town believing Tom is the man who's wronged him in the past. As Tom and his family fight back against this case of mistaken identity and struggle to cope with their changed reality, they are forced to confront their relationships and the divisive issues which surface as a result.

An Amazing film, Viggo top notch, David C.
This is when you can definitely say the whole concept from Alpha to Omega worked to aT. From story, cast, & of course David C.If you have not seen the movie check it out, along with Eastern Promises, with Viggo,Cassel Again excellent. A Dangerous Method. Viggo, Fastbender. Lets stick to A History of violence as I pre mentioned check it out & 99%9 you will put this in your collection. Collectable? Yes indeed. Steelbook 9/10. A Classic.

good gangster film but it's not quite put out as agangster film it's a family film
the main lead help's stop a robbery in progress ad then get's media involvement which bring's out the people from his past. He has to accept that his past life has caught up with him,so he head's on home to keep the past from straying any further into his present life. Quite excellent drama.

Uncensored version, good steelbook
This release contains the uncensored version of the film. It also has none of the digital noise reduction from the american release. The steelbooken is a bit boring, but a great relase of a amazing film nonetheless.

A History of Violence Steelbook
Another great steelbook purchase from Zavvi! I live in the states & they shipped it very fast & with care. The case itself came immaculate with a very nice gloss finish & zero scratches or dents. The movie itself is an amazing crime thriller noir, keeps you guessing with great acting & very in your face storytelling. Highly recommend!

Very glossy
The movie is amazing, and so is the steelbook. It has Viggo Mortensen (who delivers a brilliant performance) on the front and a gun barrel on the back. Inside is the same images in Black and White.

a history of violence bluray steelbook
Nice steelbook , excellent film makes you the viewer consider why we enjoy violence in films with what starts Like an old style good guys vs bad guys and turns it on its head ! Bluray is a decent upgrade with the old release as comes with. Dolbytruehd track
