The Walking Dead is one of the most popular franchises around, with it originating in comic form back in 2003 after being created by Robert Kirkham.
But it’s since 2010 when it’s really come alive – literally – after AMC picked it up and developed into one of the longest running TV shows of all time.
The Walking Dead follows the story of police officer Rick Grimes who awakens from a coma in hospital to find the place void of human life.
Upon leaving his ward he discovers that the world has been overrun by zombies, with the epidemic having devastating consequences. Imagine waking up to that? No thanks.
He then meets Morgan Jones and his son who help him get on his feet before travelling on his own to Atlanta to find his wife Lori and son Carl.
What follows is season after season of gripping battles, scary scenes, revolting zombies and humanity clinging on for its very existence.
As the show progresses it highlights how little the remaining survivors can trust strangers as if they’ve survived that long, they must be able to look after themselves.
This sees them stumble across the likes of the Governor, Negan and the Whisperers who all make great Walking Dead villains. All of which show no remorse and you would not want to clash with them in this apocalyptic world.
The Walking Dead has captured an enormous fan base over the years and it follows the story of the comics to bring Kirkham’s creations to life in all its gory glory.
There’s been a whole raft of great characters to come from it with the likes of Daryl, T-Dog, Tyreese, Maggie and Glenn definitely up there with our favourites – but there’s so many that you can choose from.
