Haunted by the failure to catch London's most evil killer, Jack the Ripper, Inspector Edmund Reid (Matthew Macfadyen) now heads up the notorious H Division - the toughest police district in the East End. Charged with keeping order in the blood-stained streets of Whitechapel, Reid and his men find themselves fighting to uphold justice and the rule of law; but always in the background lurks the fear of the Ripper - is he back for another reign of terror.

Based on the ratings we expecting to hear imminently that Ripper Street Series 2 will be commissioned by the BBC for another eight episodes. It premiered to 7.9 million viewers and a 26.1% share, to rank within BBC One's top ten highest rated drama programmes in 2012 and outperformed the channel's slot and prime time average share.
The debut easily won its time slot against all competition, with 1.6 million viewers more than its nearest rival ITV1.
Expect returning characters with more of the same rich storylines that meld with the intrigue of a criminal underworld festering on the hard streets of Victorian London, following the battle of the men whose job it is to bring the law to the lawless...

Ripper Street Series 1 and 2
After the recent broadcast of the excellent third series of Ripper Street on BBC1, with its pulsating concluding episode, this boxed set gives Ripper Street fans, old and new a chance to catch up on the early stages of the story , especially the development of the characters. When watching these early episodes again,or for the first time, it fills in some of the blanks, and brings into sharp relief the pivotal plot developments that would be so crucial to the excitement of the third series. Make sure you watch it on Blu Ray. Highly recommended! Best price on Zavvi!
