Soylent Green is landmark science fiction film, a cautionary tale that holds a mirror to a tomorrow rife with ecological disaster. Working well again in the futuristic genre following Planet of the Apes and The Omega Man, action titan Charlton Heston portrays Thom, a detective prowling the dank streets of a polluted, overpopulated Big Apple gone rotten in 2022.
He's trailing a murderer – and the trail leads to a stunning discovery. Vividly realised, Soylent Green's world gains its power not just from its special effects but from its heart – a human dimension magnified by the performance of legendary Edward G.Robinson in his moving screen farewell.

A future we are heading towards!
This may be Sci-Fi and it may be from the 1970’s but it’s a message from our past of where we might just be heading if we’re not careful..that’s how powerful this movie is. Charlton Heston stars in this detective story set in a dystopian future where everything is in short supply apart from people ie: to many people with not enough to go around and at it’s heart is a secret that needs to be revealed no matter the cost.

70s magic
Some of the reviewers I’m talking to you, shame on you ,they know who they are, this is movie gold, the great Heston is on great form here, and sadly Edward G Robinson, in his screen farewell and it’s 2022, people that fact should not be lost on viewers , this was the future our time now , it’s a detective story and it has a payoff ending that will give you pause. It’s a great yarn of a tale, I saw this as a boy going to school, it left a mark on me then now it’s 2023,so I’m amused happy viewing!

2022 Distopia
Now is the time to see how the future was imagined 50 years ago. Always fun. The transfer isn't great and the mono soundtrack isn't great either but this steelbook is nice enough. Strictly for people who like bleak 70's sci-fi. Which I do luckily. This edition at least has a few extras and a commentary to make it more worthwhile.

Zero effort
Wow is this design supposed to entice buyers? Mega fail!

Sad
I have to say no discernable effort is made here for design. It looks like a generic food or clothing lable you'd see at the shop. The icon film poster could easily be used and revamped with a sleek modern twist, much like the First Blood one, ya know, some semblance of effort and creativity. Not even worth 10 quid, next!

Shocking
Shocking the word that best describes the ending to this sci-fi classic and shocking is a word I would use to describe this steelbook the whole point of this movie is the reveal which is blatantly shown here on the cover for new generations of sci-fi lovers this is laterally the worst cover the movie could have.
