Jeff Tweedy - Sunken Treasure: Live In The Pacific Northwest

It's essential viewing for Wilco fans and a compellingly straightforward introduction for anyone less familiar with his repertoire. Director Christoph Green keeps the mood intimate and the cinematic flow natural from city to city, from sound-check to show, allowing Tweedy's words and music to eloquently speak for themselves.
Sunken Treasure beautifully evokes both the solitary quality and the communal feel of life on tour, capturing the rain-soaked roadside vistas seen from Tweedy's stage bus, the faded beauty of the old theatres he performs in, and the gathering excitement of the fans as they take their seats before the lights go down. On stage, Tweedy establishes an easy-going rapport with his audience that translates well to the video screen. He's candidly conversational between songs and often very funny, especially when he's reprimanding some chattering concert goers.
The set list offers an informal retrospective of Tweedy's fifteen-year career, encompassing songs from his earliest days in Uncle Tupelo to Wilco's most recent studio effort, A Ghost Is Born. It also includes material from Wilco's Mermaid Avenue collaboration with Billy Bragg, in which they set the lyrics of unfinished Woody Guthrie tunes to new music, and his experiments as part of Loose Fur, with Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot co-producer Jim O'Rourke.
Sunken Treasure was produced by Brendan Canty of D.C. hardcore legend Fugazi; with director Green, he created the indie rock DVD series, Burn To Shine. With its acoustic setting, Sunken Treasure serves as both counterpoint and companion piece to Wilco's 2005 double-disc, Kicking Television: Live in Chicago, which London's Q magazine named as one of the Top 20 live rock albums of all time - "a stunning document of one of the best live bands currently in existence."
Wilco will tour the USA in October and the rest of the world in 2007.
