Forty-five years ago The Beach Boys were one of the biggest boy bands on the planet, and in a world filled with notions of peace, harmony and 'free love', they were the voice of a generation. The band originally gained popularity for their close vocal harmonics and lyrics that reflected the youth culture of cars, romance, and surfing in California. Dubbed as "America's first, best rock band" and often being called "America's Band", The Beach Boys have enjoyed huge success in the U.S. Top 40 Chart on 36 occasions, hitting the Hot 100 Chart 56 times, and have had 4 number-one singles.
The SMiLE Sessions were originally planned as the follow up to their 1966 classic 'Pet Sounds' but due to the creative mastermind Brian Wilson's mental health issues the release was pushed back. Now, forty-five years later, one of the most famous unreleased albums of all time is made available in the form of a 2CD set, double vinyl LP, digital album and box set.
The Box-Set includes five discs (original album, bonus material, plus complete individual session highlights), two LPs, two 7" singles and more photos, memorabilia and collectables than you can shake a stick at, including:
- Three-dimensional shadow box lid featuring the original artwork of Frank Holmes.
- 60 page case bound book features liner notes, timeline, sessionography, lyrics, Frank Holmes drawings, Producer’s Notes & more than 60 previously unreleased photos
- 6 panel folder holding 5 CDs and singles. Features photos of original session tape boxes.
- "Heroes and Villians" in sleeve art
- "Vega-Tables" in sleeve art
- Features full tracklisting of proposed unfinished album
- Stereo mixes and session highlights (not available on CDs)
- 12" x 12" booklet created for original release features: Photos by Guy Webster, Frank Holmes drawings, and a 24" x 36" poster of Frank Holmes cover art.
