Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy set at the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS), a spy agency where espionage and global crises are merely opportunities for its highly trained employees to confuse, undermine, betray and royally screw each other. The series features the voices of H. Jon Benjamin as suave master spy "Sterling Archer," whose less-than-masculine code name is "Duchess"; Jessica Walter as his domineering mother and boss, "Malory"; Aisha Tyler as his ex-girlfriend, "Agent Lana Kane"; George Coe as his aging-but-loyal butler, "Woodhouse"; Chris Parnell as ISIS comptroller and Lana's new love interest, "Cyril Figgis"; and Judy Greer as Malory's lovesick secretary, "Cheryl."; and Amber Nash as "Pam", the director of human resources for ISIS.
Suave, vain and overly confident, Sterling Archer is an expert secret agent who is inept in most other aspects in his life. His relationship with his mother Malory - who is also his boss at ISIS - is often strained, never sympathetic and sometimes Oedipal. Archer has the less-than-masculine codename of "Duchess" and used to date fellow agent Lana Kane, which makes their working environment tenuous and difficult. At home, he employs an aging butler, Woodhouse.
Although Woodhouse is Sterling's elderly and devoted butler, he takes harsh and frequent criticism from his employer. Woodhouse raised Sterling since his boyhood, as Malory was a frequently absent mother and Sterling's father is unknown.
As Chief Executive Officer of ISIS, Malory Archer governs her employees with harsh criticism, raw commentary and belligerent vilification - and almost always with a drink in one hand. Malory is Sterling's mother and enjoys a romantic life via the telephone. A former spy herself, Malory was usually an unavailable working mother when her son was growing up
Strong, voluptuous and often exasperated, Lana Kane is a star agent at ISIS as well as Sterling's former girlfriend. Lana has a penchant for adult films and is currently dating ISIS comptroller Cyril Figgis, to the mystification of her colleagues.
Cheryl is Malory's prattling secretary and the office gossip at ISIS who is infatuated with Sterling. Cheryl changes her name frequently in order to acquiesce to whoever is in her presence.
A native of Detroit, Judy trained for nearly ten years in classical Russian ballet. Upon shifting her interest to acting she was accepted into Chicago's prestigious "The Theatre School" at DePaul University.
As the ISIS comptroller, Cyril is a rigid, unerring company man and Sterling's easiest target for ridicule and humiliation - usually without Cyril's knowledge. Boorish and awkward, he is jealous of Sterling's career, charisma and provocative lifestyle. Cyril is dating ISIS agent Lana Kane, Sterling's former girlfriend
