Vienna-based American psychoanalyst Alex Linden (Art Garfunkel) is involved in a passionate affair with Milena Flaherty (Theresa Russell). When Milena is brought to hospital after overdosing on pills, apparently in a suicide attempt, detectives suspect foul play on the part of Alex. As Alex sits in the hospital being questioned by the detectives, he recounts the events to the investigating officer, who must decide whether her condition is the result of attempted suicide or something more sinister...
Through flashbacks, we see the events leading up to Milena's overdose; her stormy and intensely sexual relationship with Alex, her increasing unfaithfulness, her heavy drinking and numerous affairs. Should Alex be charged with attempted murder, or is he telling the truth that Milena did it all herself?
Nicholas Roeg's award-winning film is a masterpiece of sensuality and raw emotion, drawing the viewer into both the psychological and criminal aspects of the densely-plotted storyline. The defining film within Roeg's body of work, it features brave and compelling performances from art Garfunkel, Theresa Russell, Harvey Keitel and Denholm Elliot. A neo-noir film, Bad Timing is a masterclass in avant garde film-making whose imagery will stay with the viewer for a long time., Vienna-based American psychoanalyst Alex Linden (Art Garfunkel) is involved in a passionate affair with Milena Flaherty (Theresa Russell).
