Bottle Rocket
In Wes Anderson's first feature film, he tells the story of a trio of hapless aspiring criminals with nuanced dialogue and distinct camera shots. While Bottle Rocket, starring Owen and Luke Wilson, and written by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson, is itself a very watchable film, it does not measure up to Anderson's later works, such as Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and Magnificent Mr Fox. This is the film that launched the Wilson brothers' careers, and following this they went on to star in smash hits, like Zoolander and Charlie's Angels. The film itself includes one of Owen Wilson's funniest and most interesting characters as Dignan, a slacker who tries to pull off a robbery and then go on the lam with two of his friends. Luke Wilson serves as his reluctant and exasperated friend, another very humorous character who complements Owen Wilson's. This film is easy-going, and insignificant, but still very funny and entertaining. It is by no means a great film, but is still worth watching if you need to pass 90 minutes quickly. This brief running time makes it even easier to watch, making it an overall enjoyable experience.
