invade Nanjing, the once-capital of the Republic of China. Throughout the following six weeks, soldiers raped thousands
of women and annihilated hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians - with mass executions, firing squads, and victims digging their own graves. This horrifying event, what was to become known as the ‘Rape of Nanking’. tells the story through several figures, including a conscience-stricken Japanese soldier and John Rabe, a Nazi

It is Schindler's List meets Saving Private Jap
This is harsh but oddly excellent. It is a powerfully realistic war film, shot in black and white, which adds to it's on screen rawness. It is up close and in the midst of the action, which is gritty, believable and accurate. There are some shocking parts as to be expected; executions, burials, rape and murder, all making the film both brilliant and queezily uneasy on the eye. Although I can admire the film it was hard to watch, rather long, and won't be loved by all.
