If you're looking for fast-paced family adventure, consider this: in the time it takes to read this sentence, a cheetah can go from 0 to 60 MPH! Carroll Ballard (The Black Stallion, Fly Away Home) directs the exciting story of 12-year-old Xan (Alexander Michaletos), who decides to return the cheetah he raised from a cub to the wild instead of allowing pursuers to place it in captivity. Harsh South African landscapes, stalking lions, crocodiles, river rapids and a mysterious drifter (Eamonn Walker) who may intend to turn the big cat in for cash - all will test Xan's courage and resolve. Duma
Duma is an incredible and emotional film, especially for those people who have had a strong bond between them and a pet. It shows the huge and unbreakable bond between man and beast (Xen and Duma) and because they are so close, there are some tear jerking moments when they are separated in the wilderness. When they were separated, I was on the edge of my seat and couldn't wait to see if they were re-united. There are also some breathtaking shots of the South African landscapes. This is a heartfelt story to say the least.
