Born and raised in rural Texas, James Travis Reeves’ rise to international stardom began in the mid-1950s with hits including ‘Mexican Joe’ and ‘Bimbo’. Although the plane crash took his life at the age of just 40, subsequent releases of the vast body of recordings he made in his lifetime have ensured he will always be remembered as one of country music’s most important performers. He had over 50 Top Ten hits – 18 of which made the charts months, years, even decades after his death.
Weaving together Jim’s radio interviews, recordings, TV and film performances from around the world – including the South African musical comedy film Kimberley Jim – and interviews with family, friends, musicians and technicians, this is an affecting story of one of the greatest country singers of all time, told by the people who knew and loved him best.
In addition to the definitive biography, the DVD extras include full-length clips of Jim Reeves performing 17 of his most popular songs, including ‘Welcome to My World’, ‘Mexican Joe’, ‘A Stranger’s Just a Friend You Do Not Know’, ‘Four Walls’ and ‘Am I Losing You?’.
