While this item looks great and engendered great excitement in the kids it would not charge and is dead on arrival. Reading other reviews (if only I'd read them before purchasing) this seems to be a common issue. Batteries are not user removable/replaceable.
The Sonic Screwdriver Remote Controller for Wii is great for any Doctor Who fan and/or any Wii owner that wants a cheaper alternative to the Wii Controller. This one works great, has all the regular buttons but it's a bit longer, it has a rechargeable battery and comes with a cable for charging from any USB port. It's pretty comfortable for holding and waving, it works with the nunchuk, classic controller and the MotionPlus although it might not be too comfortable when playing sideways (like a nes/snes controller) for some games, so you might want to add the classic controller or so. Overall, a great product.
I bought the Doctor Who: Sonic Screwdriver Remote Controller for Wii for my son after reading other reviews about it. It works great, a little louder than the Wii remote but that's not a bad point. It has a rechargable battery that connects to the wii console so that's a big plus. I haven't found any bad points and I would recomend it to my friends.
