Nostalgic budget fun

For a good amount of children growing up in the 90's, Digimon was one of the shows you'd rush home to see. So after a Digimon gaming drought here in Europe we've finally got Digimon All-Star Rumble. The game has 12 characters from season 1 all the way to the most recent series'. There are some glaring omissions like Patamon, but the roster is good enough at picking the biggest characters from their respective seasons. Each character's story mode consists of 7-8 stages amassing to 1 to 1 and a half hours. Sadly there is no enemy variety between characters, so expect to see a lot of Ogremons and Apemons. Where the game really shines is Battle mode where you can have up to 4 player (including local) multiplayer. There are 8 game types to try out which are fun and you can also have team battles. Playing through story mode you can acquire Digi cards, which give you stat boots during the story and battle mode, this allows for Digis that aren't playable to at least appear in card form. All in all, for it's price you're getting what you paid for. Trophy wise, you'll be kept busy as there is a 50 hour playtime trophy as well as collecting a lot of bits (currency for getting cards) and getting all the Digi cards. Hardcore Digimon fans may be put off by the small roster, but if you aren't fussed then this is some nostalgic fun. Just remember to expect the same Digimon in each story mode.
