Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is a very good game.

As funny as the show- just a shame about the mediocre gameplay

4 stars out of a maximum of 5

I bought Family Guy about 2 weeks ago and have enjoyed it, while the game-play can be classed as mediocre in some sections, it is extremely fun throughout. Along with said game-play comes the Family Guy humour that fans will instantly recognise throughout the story mode, however if you are not fully initiated into the show that is Family Guy, beware of the crude humour that it possesses. In one mission your objective is to kill disabled people carrying machine guns, while crude one-liners are heard from the two playable characters (Brian and Stewie) throughout. This game was mainly made for co-op, and this really does shine, with 4 player offline, competitive multiplayer and a challenge mode that adds to the length of the game. This really is enjoyable for a night in with a few friends. The whole campaign is drop-in drop-out akin to that of the Lego Star Wars games, you really do get a dedicated local cooperative gaming experience. I didn't notice the absence of online play until today, as I was fully immersed in the single player and local co-op sections of the game. To some people, mainly those who have no interest in the show, I would understand a two star rating, as the game-play alone would make this a mediocre game at best. But coming from me, a family guy fan, I appreciate all of the fan service that it brings, along with all of the humour that I and all of the many Family Guy fans out there have gotten to know and love the show for, which is why this game gets a solid 4 out of 5 from me.
