Inversion is the innovative cover-based third person shooter game developed by Saber Interactive, and published by Namco Bandai Games. The game revolves around the unique perspective of gravity manipulation and destructible environments, transcribing one of the most original game concepts to date. It is down to you to not only defy gravity, but become the master of it, and save the world from inevitable destruction.
Play as our more than Average Joe hero Davis Russel, a twenty-eight year old cop and also a young father and husband, whose domestic bliss and world's peace is one day abruptly shattered. An ambiguous and unknown enemy called the Lutadore, with no prior warning, invade the city with futuristic gravity-controlling weapons that the city has no hope of defending against. Regions within the city suffer from a gravity shift, entering zero gravity and literally turning topsy-turvy. As the world dissolves into chaos, Davis discovers his daughter is missing, and sets out with his cop partner, Leo Delgado, to save her and right the world once more.
Inversion combines hard-hitting, adrenaline-pumping action with an original and incredibly revolutionary gravity manipulation engine that introduces and incorporates groundbreaking gravity-wielding and gravity-defying combat. Manoeuvrability and the ability to adapt quickly to situations is crucial, as you will be thrown into weightless gameplay, and tasked to shoot in the very disorienting, war ravaged zero gravity streets of your home town.
In order to assume some kind of control on the ever-changing gravitational state of the world, you will possess a Gravlink device that will either increase or decrease the amount of gravity on a given target. This device also possesses the ability to summon enemies into range, blast and crush objects in your way, and even pick up cars when you're in dire need of mobile cover. This ties in alongside a unique destructible cover system that has been introduced into Inversion, which allows the player to create their own cover when they're under attack by manipulating objects when there is no cover in the environment. Your enemies may also create their own cover in order to protect themselves, which is where the Havok Destruction module comes into play, as it has been specifically designed to permit the maximum amount of destruction and chaos within the game. This means you can completely destroy the environments you find yourself in, as well as blast through your enemies' cover, and manipulate or knock down objects overhead your enemies to crush them from above.
Inversion offers revolutionary gameplay aspects that allow the player to completely take control over gravity and the objects within it, introducing groundbreaking methods of both combat and action. Immerse yourself within this topsy-turvy world as you attempt to put right the disorienting chaos that the world presents you with. (Cat Emerson)

Gears of War clone anyone?
Let me start by saying that this game is not solid 4 stars - it's more like 3.6 why? It's more like Gears of War clone - pretty-much the same dynamics, moves, cover system etc. Gears of War is better in almost any way - the variety of enemies, more and better weapons, better graphics and performance, much more interesting story, game-play variety etc. But, Inversion is kind of cool when it comes to using gravity powers and flying around zero-g. The main issue in my opinion is the fact that your stupid AI buddy keeps on dying (you have some time to revive him, but this can be suicide if there is a tough enemy near him). Another - not many different enemy types and monotonous game-play (but this will be seen when you're 70 percent finished with the campaign, so that's not so bad). However, game designers made quite interesting environments which really try to hide the fact that the game-play can be repetitive from time to time. People who love challenging games will love playing this one - even if we ignore the fact that your AI buddy lets you down quite often you'll keep dying yourself just as often if you are not fast and careful enough. All in all it's a decent game with a few issues. This issues would have been fatal at the full price, but at the current price level - it's a good game to play.
