This game is written as close to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original imaginings as possible, paying homage to the legendary detective in the best way it can. It's London, 1898. Holmes has just returned a set of priceless jewels to their rightful owner, but the owner finds the necklace to be a fake. Holmes is now the lead suspect, and the evidence quickly stacks up against him. He can't seem to prove his innocence or disprove the accusations, leading to London slowly turning against him, and even his faithful companion and friend Doctor Watson starting to doubt him. The evidence against Holmes is incriminating, who raises even more doubts as he evades Scotland Yard, and starts to behave suspiciously with destruction of evidence and late night roamings. It is your job now as Holmes to prove your innocence, and capture the real culprit before it's too late.

Nice, but no cigar
My spouse is addicted to Holmes games on the PC and this is the first time she'd tried one one on the Xbox. The plot was okay, nothing more, and play time was quite short. Graphics are good, though they could've made a little bit more effort. All-in-all, it's not a bad game, but not an exciting breakthrough either.

The Testament Of Sherlock Holmes is a better game than the first (the developers kept the good parts and improved the bad ones). It's a short story and there's no surprise puzzle. I'm waiting for the next episode.

The Testament of Sherlock Holmes.
This is the latest in the atmospheric series. It centres around a mysterious substance that sends people mad, to say anymore would spoil the plot. The London setting is beautifully realised and the game mechanics are smooth and responsive. Being able to play either in third or first person perspective is welcome. The puzzles are well thought out and relate to the narrative which adds greatly to the atmosphere. If you enjoy adventure games with a well written story with all sorts of challenges then this is highly recommended.
