Rollin's masterpiece
Drector Jean Rollin allows the vampires rest a little, as this story concentrates on a young couple desperately trying to escape the dullness of their provincial French town. They enter a graveyard for teenage kicks and soon realise that leaving isn't as easy as they imagined. The growing sense of dread and hopelessness as the young lovers are drawn into the heart of the cemetery is increasingly palpable. The 4K restoration looks gorgeous and this is the film to buy if you want to dip your toe into the esoteric waters of European horror.
