A new dawn for modern horror remakes
5Evil Dead - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook (Includes DVD) has awesome artwork and is by far the most impressive steelbook I have yet owned. It has fantastic picture and sound quality with a minimal number of extras, but a decent commentary and free DVD copy of the film. It may not be the director's cut we were hoping for but the sheer quality of both the film and its presentation, not to mention the steelbook itself, make this an essential purchase. I was dubious about this film; being a fan who grew up on the original trilogy I thought that a remake of the original could only end badly, and trust me, it does, just not for the audience. From the opening moments of a possessed girl being burnt on a stake whilst taunting her father, it's pretty clear that this film is not going to be pleasant (for the audience or the characters) and by the time we're introduced to the new generation of fodder, the opening scene is still so fresh in our memories that you can't help but feel a strong sense of foreboding just knowing the fate that awaits them - it's a truly haunting sensation. And no matter what you may have seen in trailers or what you may expect to see in a modern day Evil Dead movie, this film surpasses it. Going in expecting this film to be gory? It's much gorier. Scary? Much scarier. It's the very definition of extreme horror. I mean genuine shocks, violence that has a purpose in the film and levels of mutilation that are generally unheard of in mainstream studio releases. All of this is aided by a true-to-the-roots of the original decision to stick to practical effects rather than CGI, it's far more physical, and all the more unsettling because of it. The director and cast really deserve a big hand here, they have not only crafted a fine re-imagining of a classic franchise, they've very near bested it.

Evil dead steelbook
3Evil Dead - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook is a great movie. Great steelbook. Great price too. Only downside was that I had an email the Saturday before release saying that its been dispatched. Hoping for it to arrive on release day (Monday) it turned up on the Wednesday instead.

5Evil Dead - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook is an outstanding steelbook very nice art. Packed very well and sent very quickly. This was my first purchase from Zavvi and it was an excellent experience I will be shopping here again.

Evil dead
5Evil Dead - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook is an excellent updated version of an old classic. Same story no Bruce Campbell but a very gory and visually entertaining version. Definitely not one for the weak stomach person but it had me not wanting to turn away for a second. As good horror movies are very hard to come by theses days this is a must for any real horror fan.

Dead fun
5If you are expecting a slow burner of a movie with not much blood and gore then Evil Dead - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook (Includes DVD) is not the movie for you. It puts you right into the action from the start and your nerves will be shredded by the end of this movie. After the hour and a half this movie is on for, I couldn't wait for it to be over, not because it is not good but the fact that I did not think my heart could take any more. They have made the movie so well. You are constantly on edge and forever wondering what is going to happen next. This film is without doubt the best horror movie I have ever seen, not because of the sheer blood and gore, but because of the terror it actually brings to your living room!

Evil Dead Steelbook
5Being a fan of Bruce Campbell, I was a bit hesitant in watching this Evil Dead - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook (Includes DVD) remake without him being in this. This is the best remake of a horror film yet. It's dark and gritty. Well done to the director and stars, especially the main lead. I just had to get the steelbook. It's nicely presented with Evil Dead text on the front, with the lead girl walking away and on the back her screaming. It will go great with the other Evil Dead steelbooks I have.

4Unfortunately I didn't get to see Evil Dead at the cinema but immediately pre-ordered it and had to have the steelbook which is good design! The film was better than expected and very gory! I left off a star due to its tagline of 'The best horror film in years' as it wasn't scary to me, it could have done with more jumpy parts! I cant really remember the original Evil Dead films but it didn't matter as it isn't compulsory and I would have probably compared it more and not enjoyed it as much. Would definitely recommend to fans of gore!

Old school horror
5One of my favorite horror movies of recent years. Lots (and lots) of gore, with little use of cgi. If you enjoyed Cabin In The Woods, Drag Me To Hell or the original Evil Dead movies you will most likely love the hell out of this horror gem.
