So many extras (Blu-Ray HD edition)

Everyone by now should know what the films are - the most popular comedy film (by admissions) of all time, and its less popular but IMHO still excellent follow up. These are presented here in a well converted HD format, I'm not qualified to speak on the detail of the quality but it was clean enough that I was able to enjoy the films without noticing any major loss of fidelity. It comes presented in a standard Blu-Ray package, with no additional booklets etc, but what is worth noting is that the bonus disc, unlike many of this ilk, is actually a bluray and presented in 1080p - of course some parts have been upscaled but still nicer than the bonus being a standard DVD. Of course, with it being a collectors' edition, the main thing buyers will be looking at is the extras and this really does not disappoint. Extras are spread across the two feature discs and a bonus disc containing a few duplicates from the main discs, but mostly a string of interviews, additional footage including some pieces which never made it anywhere near the final release, and best of all some TV footage from the time of various promos, including the original pitch to the movie theaters (yes they had to do that back then) and a full episode of Oprah Winfrey's show where the (almost) compete cast are present. On top of this are some more recent interviews with Dan Aykroyd and Ivan Reitman which take place after Harold Ramis' passing, and in the lead up to a 'new film' though I'm not sure if the references are to Afterlife or a project which never came to fruition. There is of course some padding with multiple takes of scenes that must have been found on the cutting room floor, but even then they're a fun insight into the making of the film. All in all we managed to fill three evenings re-watching the movies and going through all of the extras, so if you're a fan of the films (or especially if you've never seen them) the package is great value for money.
