4As an introduction for Jon Pertwee to the role of the 3rd doctor, Spearhead from space is a competent showing, using the premise of him being exiled on earth, this kept budgets low, but this does not diminish the storyline at all. Caroline John appears as his assistant Liz Shaw and proves herself very capable, By the time the Autons are shown again in Terror of the Autons, Katy Manning is now present as Jo Grant his assistant, and the appearance of Roger Delgado as the Master brings a welcome air of suspense and prevents the appearance of the Autons in oversized head masks from appearing to descend into farce. As a double bill this is a welcome addition to the collection of those who fondly remember Jon Pertwee in this role.

Worth buying
42 complete Doctor Who classic stories in this DVD box set. For ist age the sound and the Picture qualitiy are pretty good. If you are a fan of the doctor you need this!

Doctor Who: Mannequin Mania Box Set
5Spearhead from Space was the very first episode of Doctor Who ever to be filmed in colour. It was the beginning of a new era in the show, a new Doctor, new title sequence and new format. The Doctor's adventures would take place on our planet for this season, because he was stranded there, unable to pilot his Tardis. This DVD is the real deal, because the story "Spearhead from Space" deserves a special edition, and all the special features that explore it's significance. The original DVD of the story was quite poor, made at the last minute (really, it was) and given a cover image of just a single auton from the story. So this re-release is worth it, and the story itself looks better than ever. As for the next story, Terror of The Autons, this was the season opener for the next season of adventures for Jon Pertwee's Doctor. You have his first season opener, Spearhead, and the opening story for his second season. What a buy! The episode itself was notorious for the controversy it araised at the time of it's broadcast "Dr Who is no longer for kids", people were saying. Many of it's scenes horrified children at the time, but even by today's standards I would say the horror-elements of the episode still stands up , so would advise no young children watch this story unless accompanied by an adult. Terror of the Autons also marks the first on-screen appearance of someone who would become the shows most recurring villain, and very important character in years to come. The Master. The Doctor also gets a new assistant, who he is not sure about at first, Jo Grant, played by actress Katy Manning who was new to acting at the time. She was the right companion for Jon Pertwees Doctor, he was protective of her, she wasn't as smart of as independent as the last companion Liz Shaw, who's departure was never seen in the show. Anyway, I know this phrase I'm about to use gets thrown around a lot, but the boxset really is a must-have for anyone who likes the show and watches classic stories.

5My review of the Dr Who Mannequin Mania Box Set. the first two stories of the Autons in its time was great on the Saturday nights at 6:30pm. The first story of the Autons is the spearhead from space was the first encounters of the third regeneration of the Dr been exlie on planet Earth by the timelords and the second story the terror of the Autons was better then the first story of the spearhead from space with the brillant actor Roger Delagado as the villan Master and Perttwee as the Dr. With Jon Perttwee and Tom baker and David Tennant made Dr Who as it today. thats why I give 5 stars.
