Three Veils is a poignant film about three young Middle-Eastern women living in the U.S, each with her own personal story.
Leila is arranged to be married, however as the wedding night approaches, she becomes less and less sure of how her life is playing out. When she finally makes a desperate attempt to get out of this arrangement, things take a different turn.
Amira is a very devout Muslim struggling with deep repressed feelings toward women, but when these feelings start surfacing, she finds herself in a battle between her faith and her love for Nikki.
Nikki is a lost soul who spirals downward on a self destructive path while battling her own demons that have haunted her since a tragic death in the family As the three stories unfold, the lives of these three women intertwine as they each struggle to defy tradition and create their own realities.
Written and directed by Rolla Selbak, an Arab American woman, and starring, Sheetal Sheth (NIP/TUCK, I CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT) and British born Angela Zahra, Three Veils carries a unique social message that any woman can relate to while delicately tackling some of the issues Middle Eastern women are confronted with today.
It is also the first film to daringly portray the struggle of an Arab Muslim Lesbian, marking a new chapter in cinema.
