Enter a Rabbit Hole of The Matrix Clothes

In 1999, The Matrix — a film directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski — came to cinemas, establishing itself as one of the most influential action flicks ever to be released. Much of this success can be attributed to its stellar cast of actors, which comprises Keanu Reeves (Thomas Anderson/Neo), Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith), and other recognisable names.

Following the character Thomas Anderson, who often goes by the alias Neo, the plot begins with him attempting to discern the origins of a certain phrase: the Matrix. This leads him to Trinity, a woman claiming that a man called Morpheus has the answers to his questions; however, these two aren’t the only ones paying attention to Neo, for there are others with sinister motive, those referred to as Agents. Fronted by Agent Smith, they manage to apprehend the hacker before he can reach Morpheus, and when their new captive refuses to cooperate, events take a dramatic turn.

Where he once had a mouth, Neo finds naught but skin. Where logic could once be applied, he observes a small robot climbing inside his stomach. Reality is supplanted by fiction.

As the nature of his world unravels like a poorly knotted rope, Morpheus offers a simple choice: the red pill or the blue pill. Should he choose the latter, Neo’s memory will be wiped, his simple life restored to its prior normalcy, but if curiosity cannot be denied, the former will grant him the truth, the maddening revelation that everything is a lie. The air he breathes. The light shining in the sky. Everything is a simulation, and he — and all of humanity — is destined to live out his life as a battery, supplying near-limitless power to his slavers, the machines.

Of course, he chooses the path of freedom, which not only expands the confines of the mind but also those of his wardrobe. Black is the colour of choice for these liberated souls, and a pair of shades seems to be mandatory.
