Venom Statues & Figures

Embrace the symbiote with Zavvi UK’s wide range of Venom statues and figures. Featuring all iterations of the character, including Eddie Brock and Flash Thompson, these products are must-have additions to any Marvel fan’s collection.

The Unbreakable Bond

On the pages of Marvel comics, Venom first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (1984), which focused on the idea of the symbiote being a sentient costume that could grant Peter Parker increased physical capabilities. Later issues introduced the concept of other human hosts, the most notable of which is Eddie Brock.

Brock bonded with the alien substance in recognition of their shared dislike of the Wall Crawler, using its power to ruin Parker’s life. Despite his less-than-amicable origins, the disgruntled reporter eventually distanced himself from his goal to punish Spider-Man, assuming the role of a vigilante (the Lethal Protector). Occasionally, the former enemies would also join forces to combat mutual threats, such as Cletus Kasady (Carnage).

After several decades, the identity was adopted by Flash Thompson, a former high-school bully of Parker. Working alongside the government and wearing the symbiote for no more than 48 hours (lest he become permanently bonded), Thompson operated as a special agent. This had the added benefit of restoring his legs, which were amputated after he sustained multiple injuries during his military career.

In addition to the symbiote’s long history in comics, it has made the jump to live-action film on multiple occasions. The first time was in Spider-Man 3 (2007), in which Topher Grace played the part of Brock. Following this, actor Tom Hardy embodied the role for a solo outing that saw an alternate interpretation of Brock coming into contact with the symbiote while investigating the nefarious Life Foundation. Having found box-office success, this movie was followed by a direct sequel: Let There Be Carnage (2021).
