Almost there
4Max Payne 3 is almost a fantastic game. The graphics, animation and attention to detail are top notch, as you'd expect with any Rockstar game, but this is spoilt by a number of frustrating issues. The cutscenes, for example, can be unbelievably long and although, in theory, can be skipped... rarely will you be able to until the last few seconds as the game is still loading in the background. Add to this the fact that it will almost always switch you back to a single handed weapon, regardless of what you had equipped before the cutscene, and then dump you in a firefight... it's gets rather annoying (especially if you've run out of pistol/SMG ammo). The shoot dodge mechanic, Max Payne's signature move, is fun but sadly ineffective as it cancels as soon as you clip any scenery or prop and, due to the level design, you'll find the game quickly becomes more of a cover shooter. Multiplayer, due to the peer-to-peer networking, is often laggy, difficult to get into and currently plagued with cheaters and rage disconnections. All of this is a shame as when the game works, it is amazing fun. Hopefully they'll improve the connections and deal with the cheaters soon.

Max Payne 3
3Max Payne 3 is a very well-polished action-noir game, with a protagonist that is about as hard boiled as they come. There's great voice acting and the plot easily matches the bullet-time dives. It's not a radical change from previous games, but it works very well.
