The Race Driver series has gone back to basics with Race Driver: GRID, from the creators of the Colin McRae title DiRT.
The car tuning and realistic control schemes of previous Race Driver titles have been ditched in favour of fast cars, varied gameplay options and a more arcade-like feel. Race modes include Le Mans races, muscle car events and even drift matches, which take place across the globe in cities such as San Francisco and Shibuya. The focus here is on speed, sleek gameplay and impressive crash mechanics.
Those who need a helping hand on the track will find it in the replay function, which lets players literally rewind time to avoid a nasty crash, or just try a corner one more time with a better racing line. This also lets players relive a crash in slow motion, and watch their car crumple and smash in reverse repeatedly.
Race Driver: GRID drives the line between realistic simulation and fast-paced arcade title, and produces something fresh and compelling in the process. Fans of both styles of racing should find something to enjoy here.
Race Driver - GRID Is all about the race - that period from lights to flag; full of tension, pressure, noise, and action.
Race Driver - GRID will take players to beautifully realised and dramatic race locations over three continents to compete in an unprecedented variety of racing events. Packed with the most powerful race cars – new and classic, circuit and drift – players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races.
In Europe, race gamers will compete on the greatest official tracks in prestige Marques including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani. Iconic cities across the U.S. – including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit and each with their own atmosphere and events – play hosts to diverse street races. Here, high-performance V8 muscle cars set the pace in aggressive closely fought pack competitions.
In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads. There is also the opportunity to compete in races that operate on the fringes of legality in the back streets and industrial areas of Yokohama.

Race Driver - GRID
A must have for anyone. Beautiful lighting, full damage modelling, music menu is great, and the cars purr and scream appropriately, even changing tone with each camera view. The tracks are intense, the crashes are spectacular to behold and the cars are a blast to drive. It's good to play in single-player mode and there's full multiplayer as well.
