Dynasty warriors 7 is the latest entry into the long running hack and slash series made by Koei, which is based on the novel Romance of the three Kingdoms. Dynasty warriors 7 takes all the best of the old and adds more, creating the best game in the series yet. Gameplay. The game feels exactly the same as the old ones and thats because it is! The combat is the same X and Y button combos but now each character can equip 2 different weapons allowing for combos to be chained. Each character also has 2 special attacks which cause devestating damage. These weapons are obtained by doing objectives or just killing enemies quick enough, you can also switch what weapons a character is using at any time simply by pausing the game and going through the options. The levels are also the same affair as before you run round a map killing lot's of soldiers and their officers until you reach the boss. Each mission will usually take around 20-30 minutes and you will normally have over 700 kills by the end of each one! Story The story in DW7 follows the same story as most of the old games just showing different battles than the previous ones, the main factions are still Wei, Wu and Shu but they are now joined by a new faction called Jin. Replay Value The game is long, with 4 campaigns, 1 for each faction and then conquest mode it could take up to 50+ hours to complete it all and thats without trying to collect all the weapons. That being said unless you really enjoy the combat or the story there won't be much reason to playthrough more than once. Graphics The graphics have had a major update since dynasty warriors 6, with more characters on screen at once than ever before and each one uniquely detailed the game is a pleasure to look at while playing and the graphics during the cutscenes are some of the best i have ever seen. Characters and the leveling system DW7 goes back to the skill trees of the old games, unlike DW5 and 6 which had levels which increased as you killed enemies and therefore increased your stats, DW7 gives you skill points whenever you kill an enemy officer which you can use to buy skills in the menu. These officers also drop items which pickup and then increase your stats like your health or attack power. Stats can also be increased through seals which are obtained by using a weapon a lot and then equiped to your character afterwards. Also in DW7 there is over 60 different characters to choose from, this allows you to experiment to find your favourite gives you plenty to of skills to get before you finish the game. Conclusion Overall Dynasty Warriors 7 is a very fun game that has plenty to do, see and upgrade. It is by far the best in the series yet because they have just taken all the good parts of the old games and put them together. 9/10Report this review
