Resistance: Burning Skies is the action-packed, dynamic first person shooter game created and designed exclusively for the PS Vita, developed by Nihilistic Software and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The story was written by William C. Deitz, who is also the author of Resistance: The Gathering Storm and Resistance: A Hole In The Sky.
The game takes place in August 1951, as a horrific and terrifying Chimeran invasion takes hold of the East Coast, moving in across the Hudson River and into New York City. The story revolves around our slightly-more-than-average-Joe, a firefighter located in Staten Island by the name of Tom Riley. As Tom, you must now rise to the challenge in order to protect civilians and save lives, and redefine what it means to be a hero.
Wander through and explore this chaotic world on the verge of an apocalypse, and of the human race on the brink of being wiped out, with a vast array of weapons and artillery. Each environment you find yourself in is stunning and incredibly detailed, with dark graphical effects that truly make you feel as if the world is so close to destruction. Every monster you encounter is fearsome, and gameplay will be tense, keeping you on the edge of your seat with every spine tingling, adrenaline-fuelled moment.
Burning Skies completely utilises the capacity and ingenuity that the PS Vita has to offer, with combat innovatively and effectively meshed with the OLED touch screen and dual analog sticks. When it comes to throwing grenades and going hand to hand with your melee weapon, each are thrown and swung via the use of the on-screen touch controls; this can improve your aim, as you can point which direction you want your grenades to go. New weapons have been introduced, such as the Chimeran sniper rifle, alongside familiar and iconic Resistance artillery, including the Carbine and the Auger. The Auger has been revamped for Burning Skies in order to incorporate the versatility of the Vita's functions, with its blast shield re-introduced via drawing a straight line on the OLED touch screen. Experience an innovative and brilliantly revamped first person shooter that feels completely fluid and at home on the intuitive PS Vita, with Resistance: Burning Skies.(Cat Emerson)

Review of Resistance: Burning Skies
Whilst my initial impression of the Resistance franchise's first appearance on the Vita did not bowl me over, the game soon engrossed me and any niggling annoyances were soon forgotten about. A good addition to the Resistance clan but the Vita is capable of so much more and hope this will be the case with any future releases.

Resistance: Burning Skies
Burning Skies is a small scale addition to the series on the vita, which compared to the PS3 resistance games, is a sub-par instalment. The gameplay is the norm with a few new ways to interact with the game via the back panel controllers. Overall a big name game on a hand console which does not live up to its big brothers installments and does not fulfill expectations. However with the limited titles for the vita it is probably the current best bet for a first person shooter game on the vita.

Resistance: Burning Skies
I know Resistance: Burning Skies has had some negative reviews but I must say, I quite enjoyed the game a little on the short side, but it's a solid enough shooter. The online part is also very good, but the best part I'd say. I think there will be better FPS in the future but this is a good start and worth a blast for now at least until Call of Duty Black Ops II comes out.

Resistance: Burning Skies
Though Resistance: Burning Skies is a great first attempt of showing how well a FPS will work on the Vita, it is sadly too short to recommend at full price. The campaign is roughly 6 hours long which is reasonable for a pick up and play portable shooter but I did wish it had some major incentives to go back through, and the difficulty tended to stay the same, but again for pick up and play this may have been a development choice. It looks pretty enough for a first generation vita game, but do not expect uncharted levels of detail. Gameplay works as you would expect, the dual thumbsticks work lovely as you would expect. It makes use of the touchscreen and though intuitive can be a bit invasive and fiddly in the heat of battle. I enjoyed the game and i'm sure if you fancy Portable FPS multiplayer you will get more from the game but for me it was once through the story, a sample of the multiplayer and the game was done. Very quick and easy platinum for the trophy hunters out there! Gives me hope for future FPS releases on the Vita and I am glad I played it, I just don't see it as a must own title and if you can wait, get it in a sale.

Resistance: Burning Skies
Resistance: Burning Skies' campaign is too short, however good game in general and the multiplayer is like it would be on any home console.
