A high def return to middle earth
5Some of my favourite fins have had the 4K upgrade and although biased I have to say , they have done a great job , visually stunning , both theatrical and extended cuts are here in a stunning steel book box set pricey but a pleasure to behold

Great movies, excellent collectable edition
5By now everyone knows how good these movies so I'll not dwell on them, this review is about this particular edition of the trilogy. It is 3 beautiful steelbooks in a padded metal container that is also very pleasing on the eye however you arrange it on your shelf. A great edition for any fan to own.

Stunning improvement over the blurays
5Upgraded from my extended blurays box set and I'm so happy I did, where the blurays box set is brought down by its visual noise issue this 4k set is a beautiful clear viewing experience (and the steel book set is gorgeous). Well worth it!

Lovely set with service to match
5If you are reading this, you are probably already a fan of Peter Jackson’s cinematic tribute to Tolkien. So let us cut to the chase: this is the best that the trilogy has ever looked, you get both the Theatrical and the Extended versions, the three steelbooks are beautiful, and the box itself matches the books. Zavvi shipped this the moment the set became available, and it arrived well-protected by airbags, nary a dent or scratch. Buy it before it sells out!

Nice box set, terrible packaging
3This is one of the nicest box sets I own and my first entry into Lord of the Rings, the steelbooks are fantastic and the quality of the video and sound on the discs are great for the bits I've looked at so far. Zavvi's packaging needs to be improved, I had both this, and The Hobbit delivered in an oversized box with air packs wrapped around the sides of the box but nothing separating the collections and a gap in the middle, no protection on the top or bottom. The Hobbit arrived damaged, so I needed to return it.

Outstanding
5This set has gone straight into the upper echelons of my favourites from my collection. The quality and care taken with it is second to none - just look at the outer box. If you compare this with the dismal outer box Paramount came up with to house the Indiana Jones 4K Steelbook set, it puts it to shame. In addition, you get both the theatrical and extended editions in 4K, and the video and sound are both top notch. Well done all involved!

Worth the wait..
5I pre-ordered this a while ago and to my pleasant surprise it arrived a few days early. And I must say, this Steelbook Collection is amazing. The boxset itself is just pristine, the quality of the material, the Disc cases, the artwork is all fantastic. It is quite a hefty price, especially considering there are no special features but the fact it has both the theatrical and extended cuts is great. Each movie has its own case with three discs inside and the video quality itself is top shelf. I recently purchased a 4K TV as well, and when this box set finally arrived I couldn't wait to try them out and it did not disappoint at all. Beautiful cinematic trilogy with just the right box to contain it in. Love it!

Finally..
5After ordering all the way back in Jan i finally have this set which got me into steelbooks. The set was packaged and secured very well. Big box plenty of padding and protection no damage at all. Very happy. Finally i have my precious.
