Brilliant Remasters
5An excellent set for a fantastic price full of extras which only add to the value. A little disappointing that North by Northwest isn't included in the UK version of the set but I guess that's due to the studio rather than distributors!

A blu-ray masterpiece
5Superb transfers on almost all of the films (which considering the age of most of them is pretty amazing). Really nicely presented boxset (although I was very suprised at how compact it is with the number of discs!) and the amount of extras is very impressive indeed. A "must have" for any cinema/film lover's collection.

Vintage stuff
5This Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection is a bargain price for this indispensable collection from the master himself. There are some issues about picture quality on isolated films but broadly, the reference quality is of course stacked with extras. It comes in great packaging, and is not only pleasing on the eye but great for those with shelves already groaning with Blu-rays. At the current price this is a no brainer - stacked with must own films for any discerning collector or anyone who just loves a thrill ride.They don't come much better!

5This Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection is the best Hitchcock collection ever. 14 classics that didn't get old. No wonder "Vertigo" is the considered now by the critics the best movie ever made in the history of cinema! If you love movies this is an unmissable item. Five stars!

5The Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection is an excellent collection! Of course it does not contain all of Hitchcock's great films but the selection is great and I just had to buy few more of my favourite titles separately. This is highly recommended.

Masterpiece but not all the classics
4Although this Alfred Hitchcock box set says it is the 'Masterpiece Collection' the fact that what many consider to be one of his his masterpieces 'North By North West' is excluded along with 'Strangers On A Train' (also considered to be another masterpiece by many). These are in a separate 3 disc box set. I think many would have preferred these to have been included in a slightly larger set as all of Hitchcock's films can be considered masterpieces. That said, the quality of the transfers to bluray are excellent. The early black and white films shown no signs of age and are a pleasure to watch after the sometimes grainy hit and miss versions that are available out there. The sound is also better for it with the exception of 'Rope' which has been mentioned before for it's couple of dropouts (I can't remember if they were there in my original dvd copy or not, but it could be that the sound has been lost in time). Despite my comments, and it's purely subjective, this box set is essential for Hitchcock fans who want to enjoy the films all over again and, at the price I paid for it, a bargain despite not having 'North By North West'

Highly recommended
5Each film in the Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection features excellent Blu-ray transfers. Some are slightly better than others but a vast improvement on the DVDs. It's also worth buying to get a copy of Marnie, Torn Curtain, Topaz and especially 'The Birds' finally in widescreen format. The previous DVD releases for these movies where 1.33:1 and so lost a lot of the picture. This is very highly recommended.
