If you like beautifully shot, edited and scored films with gratuitous gore and violence topped off with story of love and forgiveness then this is for you. It's an art house crime-drama from director Nicholas Winding Refn starring Ryan Gosling - some of you may recognise these two working together previously on 2011's 'Drive' - another fantastic film. The pace of this movie is intentionally slow and steady, composed beautifully (seriously - you could pause and print out every one and frame it) and filled with tension. It's not for the faint-hearted as there as more than a few scenes in which the violence does not cut when you'd normally expect... it's Refn afterall - just take a look at his catalogue of work and you'll understand why. There's more to the story than meets the eye. Pay attention to the characters and the roles they play. It's gripping, intense and contains occasional moments of very dark humour. Sit back and enjoy this movie on a Saturday night but you may want to finish the night with a slapstick before bed time.

Time to meet the devil.

One of the most underrated movies this year! Nicolas Winding Refn reunites with Ryan gosling after the huge succes of Drive in 2011 to give us something totally different ! The movie is closer to valhalla rising according to me , and it's really a very well made psychological story in which the psyche of the character is reflected in the images you see on the screen. You can see that the director uses code of horror movies , noire thriller to serve the story telling and it works : I was on the edge of my seat during the whole 90 min of the film. It'll remind you of the great Kubrick and the Giallo movies. The steelbook arts is also great , it was made by a fan who won a contest made by Empire magazine to design the steelbook.

Start by saying i love the steelbook design wise. And , the disc content is great. Always will buy steelbooks of my favourite films or in this case director. Now to the film itself. You can't review OGF unless you talk of its comparisions to Drive. This was an excelent movie with Ryan Gosling at its heartbeat. This however is a strange film not many twists and turns the plot seems ordinary in comparision. The viewer seems to know whats going to happen next. Not saying i didn't like it, just found the ending predictable and all a bit slow in places. Kristin Scott Thomas seems to be going through the motions as well. Did think they could have found a better mother figure for the movie role. Overall do watch the villian role is quite cool who tortues(kills) people in some unusual ways. Very x rated though so not for the faint hearted.
