Pirates of the Caribbean 1-4

This five disc set represents good value for money. The four discs of the films come with few extras unlike the separate Blu-ray two-disc versions (including the two disc DVD set) but there is a bonus disc with a few extras and bits and bobs on it. The picture quality on all the films are up to the usual BD standards, in other words ace, but the soundtracks on the first three films are in standard 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. This soundtrack is the same as the DVD's so a little disappointing there given that most BD's have either a DTS HD Master lossless soundtrack or a Dolby Tru HD lossless track. Having said that the fourth film has a DTS 7.1 HD Master track so those with a 7.1 set up will benefit from this codec, and of course it is backwards compatible down to 5.1. or less. As far as the films themselves are concerned, and let's face it most of you know the storyline(s) it is the almost norm, i.e the first film is the best with the rest making a slowish sliding scale backwards. Having said that all the films are no less than entertaining and most will enjoy them, and at the price above nothing less than a bargain, good family fun entertainment.
