Two great films
5To start you should watch the newer version of The Thing as it's a prequel to the original. It's an awesome film that's well written, with good plot and special effects. It's a great lead up to the second which starts right where the first left off. If you like sci-fi, horror, gore and special effects then these are the films for you. Buy them now and you won't regret it.

Excellent
5The Thing (1982) / The Thing (2011) is a great double movie set. The Kurt Russell film is a classic and a very good movie. The new prequel was still good and I enjoyed it.

Flawed but for the original
3I was dreading watching the prequel film in this The Thing (1982) / The Thing (2011) box set, because so many things are right with the original. John Carpenter's incredible direction with Ennio Morricone's superb original soundtrack makes for an unforgettable film. In my opinion, the music does not set the atmosphere of the film in "The Thing" (2011). Gone is Morricone's minimal electronics, replaced by a cacophonous orchestra. The prequel's story was as I expected. After all, if you've seen the original you know the ending! It was okay, if not a little flawed in places. One thing I was surprised at was the heroine's ability to withstand minus fifty degree temperatures hatless and maskless. Not an icicle in sight! It could have been better. The original 1982 film's brilliance really highlights the flaws of the subsequent prequel.

The THING - Box set
5Awesome original with Kurt Russell which has a great Blu-ray conversion and picture quality. The 'Prequel' is actually far better than I thought it'd be, with good FX and storyline. Ties in with the 1982 film really well. The Thing (1982) / The Thing (2011) is a brilliant box set for 'The Thing' addicts and general film fans alike. Excellent value too, enjoy!

The Thing
5I really loved the original film with Kurt Russell, possibly my favorite Horror movie. When I first saw the The Thing (1982) / The Thing (2011), I was expecting a low quality piece of rubbish, but not so! The follow up to the original is of a very good standard but I felt in some places the plot had a few minor holes. Overall good entertainment, worth the money spent!

See 2, than one...
5Both movies in one box. Great. Every part is a masterpiece for himself. You have to watch the second movie first to hold the timeline. It is great to see more than 20 years of horror in 4 hours. 5 stars are not enough.

5Excellent entertainment, the prequel was fantastic, even when you had seen the original, which was watched back to back. Highly recommend viewing. You still jump, EVEN though you know the story line. THATS entertainment.
