When being good is not enough.
5Whiplash is a great film about not giving up and being the best in what your passionate in. Catchy jazz music and great acting by J.K. Simmons that will leave you hooked till the very end. The cover art on the steel book has a picture of a cymbal, debossed title and finished off with a glossy coating. I personally would have liked indentation on the grooves of the cymbal and a embossed title. The inside cover art photography captures the tension between the two main characters in the film. Overall a clean, well designed steel book for a great film. 4/5

Steelbook
5One of the best looking steelbooks i've seen sofar, the picture here on Zavi really doesnt do it justice.. The Steelbook is a bit of a magnet for fingerprints but other then that... GET THE STEELBOOK if you're gettin the movie, you wont regret it :)

A gorgeous edition of a glorious movie masterpiece.
5'Whiplash' is one of my all-time favourite movies ever made, without question or pause. Watching it in the cinema left me feeling breathless, exhausted, giddy, light-headed, my heart pounding in my chest, and my legs knackered from having drummed them furiously in time with the triumphant final 10 minutes. It is one of those movies that is as close to perfect as a movie can possibly be. (And if the Oscars were any proper measure of quality (which they're not), 'Whiplash' would have won Best Picture. Not that I don't love 'Birdman', mind you...it's just not AS awesome as 'Whiplash'.) So when I saw that Zavvi had this gorgeous steelbook edition of the Blu-ray of the film, I patiently waited and saved my money until I had enough to buy it, because have you SEEN this cover?! It's just so PRETTY! Once I ordered it, it promptly arrived at my door about 3 days later, in perfect condition. It's black and gold and shiny, and the title on the cover is embossed, and it's a good thing Gollum isn't around, because it truly is PREEECIOUSSSSSSSS... =))

Case Review
4This review is specifically for the Steelbook casing of Whiplash, the movie itself goes without saying that it is a masterpiece of cinematic work. So it came in the post and I was quite excited having seen the artwork on Zavvi, looked nice enough however it seemed to be lower quality than the photo on the website, which I guess is to be expected but I was just hoping for a little more. It also scratches fairly easy because of the gloss finish which is a shame really. Overall, I'd recommend it only if you really want a special version of this film. Handle it delicately.
