4Fantastic sc-fi from the ubiquitous JJ Abrams. Think of X-Files but even more of a mind-melt! Most intelligent tv series for many a year - shame it didn't last another couple of seasons.

Fantastic Stuff!
5This is an amazing series and I would recommend it to anyone. If you like sci-fi or not, there's something here for everyone. It's funny, dramatic, surprising, heartwarming and imaginative. Though admittedly the final season doesn't live up to the first four, it still stands up to comparisons with the very best shows I've ever seen. Worth watching for Walter Bishop alone - brilliantly written and portrayed.

Bargain
5One of the best scifi shows in recent years all collected together at a bargain price, if you like scifi, especially something like X-Files, you can't go wrong.

Fringe series 1 to 5
5This is certainly one of the most outstanding serials in recent years in ANY genre, not just sci-fi/fantasy. The quality of performance by the actors and the story threads are impressively high throughout. Great humour, pathos and sensitivity are shown by all the main characters, especially Anna Torv (Olivia Dunham), Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop) and the sublime John Noble, who plays Walter Bishop. A fine cameo by Leonard Nimoy (William Bell) binds the whole series together, although Nimoy himself does not appear in many episodes. The actors themselves are continually stretched in terms of their ability by the fact there are parallel universes - with each character having very different traits depending on which universe they live in. Anna Torv is truly superb as in one universe Dunham is quite vulnerable and lacks confidence; in the other she is a super-confident martial arts practitioner and appears to have no weaknesses. Noble is the star performer though, with one Walter having lost parts of his memory and is living in a sanatorium having once been a brilliant scientist. His mood swings are wonderfully portrayed and there are moments of genuine sadness and delight in equal measure. The alternative Walter is the US Secretary of Defence and is far more driven and controlling. The plot shifts in very different directions and there are episodes which are based both in the past and future, so the watcher (or should I say OBSERVER?) has to concentrate to make sure the thread of the story isn't lost. an absorbing series which would probably benefit from a second viewing - and what better way to do it than buying this box set.

5This is great value for money. I bought this for a friend for Christmas she loves fringe. This was the best price around by a mile. Delivery was quick and package was good. Many thanks Zavvi.

5I bought this as a gift for my elderly parents. For a generation still grappling with DVD/bluray on-demand technology seems light years away to them, but box sets they can handle. This entire 5 series box set was a bargain, and its going to last them ages, well I thought so but they seem addicted to the show and are blitzing through. They received it within 5 days of placing the order, so both service and product get topmarks!
