3I had to replace my son's original wireless controller because of malfunction caused by circuit board corrosion due to internal condensation. These units are clearly not well sealed against moisture from gamers' hands and breath. Remedy:- Replacement controller. Store controller (while not in use) in an airtight 'Tupperware' box, along with a large sachet of dessicant (silica gel). Perhaps the new controller will last longer this way. P.S. We don't live in an igloo.
