An epic ending for an epic trilogy

5

You know those epic moments in video games? Those moments that you take your hand off of the mouse and keyboard, and just watch the cinematic roll out, anxious to see what happens next. When the cinematic ends, your jaw is gaping and it takes you a few moments to remember where your hands need to go for you to continue the experience. I played all 3 Mass Effect games, and this one by far had the most epic moments. This is indeed a great way to finish such a great trilogy, the game does everything it tried to do with great results. From the heavy feeling of the war weighing on everyones shoulders while you walk through the citadel, to the huge battle scenes that involve the reapers, there is only one word I can truly use to describe this game. Epic.

Mass Effect 3 met my expectations greatly, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Bioware's work, or to anybody that is a fan of RPG games. Two words - must have.

Mass Effect 3 is an awesome game, overall. It's a bit lacking in the usual RPG features, and the only other problem is the very disappointing endings. Other than that, this is a huge game, and probably one of the candidates for game of the year 2012. I highly recommend it.

If there's better I haven't heard of it!

Mass Effect 3 is the evolution of an industry! To see three games mould into your own specific storyline is fantastic and this last chapter in the 'Shepard' Mass Effect trilogy rounds it out perfectly. Buy this with the same mentality that you would purchase a piece of art and you cannot be disappointed. What the artist wishes for you to experience is right there, you just have to reach out and grab it.

I really love the Mass Effect series and this game was awesome as the others, but the ending is a bit odd. I highly recommend this game to everyone!

Mass Epicness!

An awesome game following two very good games, a must have to complete a trilogy. -Choices from the last 2 games make big difference in some points. -Combat with smarter than the average AI. -Great cinematics. -Great Story (I held my breath quite a few times!) -The ending is a bit of a let-down but since Bioware promised us a DLC to fix it we wait patiently. Its a must play(and the previous ones if you want to have a complete view of this great trilogy).

Great game

This is an excellent game and well worth the wait. The gameplay is pretty similar to Mass Effect 2, but a couple of things have been significantly improved (E.g.: planet scanning is replaced by something enjoyable) or at least tweaked (e.g.: weapon loadouts, weight & power recharging, etc). The story is an excellent continuation of the Mass Effect 1 and 2 plot. Your choices in the previous games have an important impact on this installment, and many characters will be making a return appearance (or at least a cameo). (Note: some choices will have less meaningful consequences and not every choice appears to be equally important. For example: the final choice in ME2 is pretty much glossed over, and is mostly irrelevant if your military strength rating is high enough.) There is, however, a bit of a controversy going on concerning the ending. Several people dislike the ending and deem it to be disheartening or even detrimental to the series. I personally liked the ending, even if I believe a couple of things should've been fleshed out a bit more. "De gustibus." Regarding multiplayer: while I was originally not a big fan of adding multiplayer to a Mass Effect game, the current MP mode has proven me wrong. It's a very enjoyable distraction, and can be quite a lot of fun. (There are a couple of drawbacks, however: no way to mute other players without turning off voice chat entirely, no text chat, etc.) All in all: a great game, with a couple of flaws.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 is a game that is definitely aimed at fans of the series, although new comers will be able to pick this up, and enjoy the action and story on offer. Any story elements, and characters impacted by decisions made in previous titles, will be missed though, if you're not continuing on from a save game linked to Mass Effects 1 or 2. Without giving anything away, at least 20+ NPCs have lived between games, and in some cases, whether an NPC is alive or not in Mass Effect 3, is usually dictated by choices made in the other 2 games. While this doesn't ruin the story for newcomers, there will be a lot conversations and characters mentioned, that simply wont mean anything to you. The upside of this for players continuing on from the first 2 games, is the fact that they will often have the opportunity to catch up with NPCs they're already emotionally attached to, due to events that took place before. In term of game play, Mass Effect 3 strikes a good balance between Mass Effects 1 and 2. There's improved customisation elements, thanks to weapon mods and upgrades, but also the slick, fast, cover-centric combat system from Mass Effect 2. Exploration has been streamlined, which keeps the action and story more consistent when playing, and finally, we have multi-player integrated into a Mass Effect game! Although I was not interested in this at first, I have to admit, it combines an excellent 4-player co-op experience, similar to Gears of War 2's Horde mode, but with an an in-depth RPG element. I especially like the fact that credits earned in multi-player victories, can be spent on supplies of varying qualities. Each supply crate provides a random mix of weapons, upgrades, new Characters, mods and equipment. This makes the urge to play more than a few games, very tempting. Couple this with the fact that the silver and gold challenges are no push-over, and we have a fun, social, and addictive multi-player experience. So, to wrap it up, anyone who enjoys Science fiction stories and/or action RPGs should pick this up. The multi-player may not be for everyone, but it is highly enjoyable, with a good balance of instant gratification and challenge, whilst the story mode is fun, engaging and well written.

Having played Mass Effects 1 and 2, I've religiously followed the story and been an avid fan for many years. Mass Effect 3 just completely blew my mind, and for someone who has only played a handful of games, I'm glad I chose this as one them. The graphics are incredible, the game-play style is suited to most people, regardless of their experience, and the story-line rivals that of even the most epic blockbusters! I wouldn't be surprised if there were a film in the pipeline! Just watching the trailer before the release was enough to give me goosebumps! Don't miss out. Buy Mass Effect 3 and value your time with it! I highly recommend it.
