Shockingly overrated.

With so much talk of how brilliant BioShock Infinite is, and it being an early GOTY contender, I feel I must have missed something, because I was not so much underwhelmed but bitterly disappointed. The first two BioShock games are among my favourites of this generation, but I have already traded Infinite, with no desire to ever return to it. The narrative is delightfully engaging and the interactions between main characters Booker and Elizabeth are a joy to watch as the story unravels. Unfortunately though the actual gameplay is repetitive, with all the strategic elements of previous BioShock's completely disregarded in favour of mindless blasting. Where previous BioShock's were thoughtful and clever, Infinite is just a dumb run and gun type game, albeit with a better story. Had it not been carrying the BioShock name I probably would have enjoyed it a little more for the run of the mill shooter it is. However as the follow up to one of my favourite games of this gen, I'm afraid I expected better. It feels that in trying to offer a new and fresh BioShock experience, we've got a game that's more like every other shooter than it's predecessors which were bursting with charm, personality, and a degree of originality.

Biosock explains it all!

The graphics in Bioshock Infinite are realy good, but the graphics don't make the game what it is. The game play is very solid and enjoyable. I'd finished the game in about a day and a half of grinding and carefully exploring the game, and I must say that the plot is so beautifully stunning.

I AM IN BIOSHOCK!

Like the title says I am in Bioshock! I mean after completing this game I can tell you this is the game of the year. No thought about that! The graphics the sound the culture the expeirience this game getting you into, is awesome I mean more the awsome but I just can't find a word to describe the feeling, playing the game slowly collecting all the items (Easter Eggs) I finished it in about 20 days. Today I can tell you while playing 18 days I was wondering where does the plot go to and I was feeling like i'm in a mystery but the last 2 days blown my head off as I tell you think about the last episode of lost. Yes! that big. Lets say maybe the name of the game Bioshock is the right word to describe what I feel right now as I am sad, happy, curious and everything you can think of. That's just the plot i'm talking about not mentioning the the game itself. I will leave that to you to judge and experience hope you going to do the right thing and play that game as it will take you to another level.

I enjoyed Bioshock Infinite with its rich storyline. After the credits you will be left with your mouth open, staring at the TV. The ending is amazing.

Familiar yet different - exactly how it should be

Having thought the original Bioshock was a masterpiece, I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of originality and inferior plot in the sequel. Bioshock Infinite makes up for this. Instead of thousands of feet below the ocean, this time you're thousands of feet above the earth as Booker DeWitt, an ex-Pinkerton agent with a troubled past, is sent to the floating city of Columbia to rescue Elizabeth, a girl held captive there, to pay off a debt. Standing in their way are the God-fearing armies of 'The Prophet' Father Comstock, a racially-charged uprising, and the truth about Elizabeth's origins. Infinite retains the shooter with mild role-playing elements game play. Keeping in line with the Bioshock series, you will collect a variety of Plasmids (which, in Infinite, are known as Vigors) - it took me a while to get used to them, but they're actually more versatile than the other games, with the ability to combine them (electrifying a crow attack, for instance). The weapon system works the same way, with the exception that you can only carry two at a time, which can get awkward at some times. There's no hacking this time around, but you are able to gain control of turrets for a limited time using the 'Possession' Vigor. Vending machines are also there, scattered across Columbia. Plenty of parallels can be drawn between Infinite and the original - whether or not Infinite is a prequel is open to debate - this is thanks to the mind-bending plot and Elizabeth's actions as a companion. There's no spoilers here, so you'd have to play it to find out, but as for Infinite as a package, fans of the original will feel right at home while being offered something different, and something different than the standard shooter for newcomers to the series.

BioShock Infinite Fun

5

Bioshock Inifinite is an awesome game that's worth playing, there are so many things to do. The Fun is infinite, it's a long game that I enjoyed a lot. This game will make you happy, sad, it will even make you laugh. One of my favourite things in this wonderful game are the enemies. When you fight through the game you're going to meet tons of enemies that all are different in so many ways. This game is worth your money, it's not like the other Bioshock games as it's a complicated BioShock game that will surely not waste your time.

Good but not perfect

I have really been waiting for Bioshock Infinite to arrive after I read the reviews and saw the amazing metascore. Unfortunately the game was not as good as expected. I don't need super HD whatever graphics to enjoy a game and so this average looking game still managed to create a great atmosphere. However it is very straight forward, there's not much leeway whether you turn left or right. If you wouldn't be shooting loads of enemies, I would almost call it an interactive movie. The storyline is great, your companion, Elizabeth, does an awesome job in not being annoying.

GOTY

In Bioshock Infinite, you enter a world that is so real and so dreamy that you can't tell the difference. When playing my first few hours with this game, I found myself with an open mouth staring at corners of the street as the easter eggs are everywhere. This game world is so full of surprises. Being able to use a variety of cool powers and guns as you like also helps you in combat and lets you enjoy the fiction in the game.
