Good game, somewhat repetitive

4

Dishonored plays like a lot of other first person sneak and slash games. What sets it apart is a deep and illustrious atmosphere as well as a slew of options for character advancement. There are several chapters to Dishonored, and the story does a good job of keeping the player interested in the development of the PC and the NPCs he regularly interacts with. The world is open to a limited extent - the levels don't feel too cramped or restrictive, but of course it's not a completely open RPG world. Those who wish for a lot of achievements will find just that, with optional pacifist playthroughs, ghosting achievements and the like. Graphics-wise, the game won't be remembered as the most advanced title among its peers, but for what it's worth, the graphics don't detract from the impression as a whole. However, the game does get a bit repetitive. The enemies can become predictable - which is to some extent intended for a sneaky game. But jumping from rooftops and assassinating the guards to a stately dinner stays exciting for only so long. The Game of the Year edition offers additional content, which may be of interest to the more competitively minded player, or to those who want to experience the entire universe of Dishonored. Similar to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, for example, the add-ons are not necessary to feel a sense of completion and accomplishment when the credits roll, but they do make for some entertaining hours spent with the game. To compare it again to a game with similar mechanics but a vastly different setting, I found Deus Ex more rewarding and immersive, but I don't regret buying Dishonored. I can recommend it as an enjoyable title to play through over the holidays, for example.

Good but...

Dishonored is an excellent game which resumes Assassin Creed's principles. The dark atmosphere adds a pressure and the history is brilliant, without speaking about the central figure.

Great Game!

Dishonored has tons of replay value! Become the assassin you want to be with a lethal and and non lethal option at every corner of the game, with lots of side missions (and DLC's). See the beautiful fallen city and explore it. Upgrade your favorite skills and abilities. This is one of the best games I've bought in terms of bang for buck. It's worth every penny!

Dishonored

My first impression - being an assassin with magical powers is awesome! There are many elements in this game which are very innovative, so after watching the trailer I wanted to buy it so badly, and honestly it didn't let me down. Saving the little girl and eliminating the evil army forces was a clichéd plot but still the graphics and the 'eerieness' which the game has is unique. Based on the decisions you make the world changes, so even if you have taken all the wrong choices and made the place a living hell for the citizens; you can always go back and try again which still won't be boring at all .The only problem it has is that the game was a bit short on the storyline which made me take one star off but otherwise it's a good game.

Dishonored

Dishonored is easily one of the best games to have come out last year. It can be described as a puzzle game, where you have to take your time and think up the best possible route to your targets. It is also one of the few games that lets you pull off complete pacifism zero-kill runs, including giving you options to 'neutralise' your assassination targets, instead of assassinating them straight up.

Art meets Game Design

4

What I liked most about this game is its dark tone due to the very unique industrial atmosphere; particularly the oil painting look suits the industrial level design very well. Another nice aspect of the game is the variety of approaches the player is given to fulfil his mission goals; although it's up to oneself to choose between a non-lethal or a more "butcherly" play style the player has to deal with later consequences of his decisions because the world of Dunwall actively reacts to these actions. Thus the fun part is to discover each level play through another method and/or way to choose/to go and in the same way to enjoy the freedom of combining several of the main character's supernatural powers. You will be definitely surprised by the possibilities you got playing around with different combinations, believe me! Altogether I would certainly recommend the game because of it's exclusive and very convincing industrial world and the creativity aspect w.r.t. to the usage of Corvo's powers.

Excellent game!

Dishonored is an amazing stealth game that takes place in an imaginary world terrorized by an awful plague. The animation is great, and I did not came across any bugs or glitches. Although the game is pretty short, the game play and the storyline make the game so fascinating and fun. I really liked the choices you make in the game; how to complete the mission, or what to use mostly: the stealth options or the killing options? In conclusion, I believe that Dishonored is an amazing game, and that you should buy it.
