Not Bayonetta, but close
4In short, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the lovechild of Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta, heavily skewed to the latter's side. The quirky Metal Gear thing is there, with conspiracies, some fourth wall jokes and the usual Codec moments, plus a few other nods. The combat system works very well, but the heavier focus on block/parry makes it imperative that you learn to work the system. If you don't, you'll have a terrible time with two of the bosses. The plot has serious elements, but you can only stand to lose if you take it all seriously. This is a very worthy spectacle-slasher. It's not on Bayonetta's level, but then again, nothing is.

5Platinum Games does it again and confirms their status as kings of action games. Rising is the best action title since Platinum's previous Bayonetta, by far. The game may be short, only seven levels but with Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard and Revengeance, there's plenty of replay value. As always with these kinds of titles, the game transforms its experience depending on the difficulty setting. A substantial move list, a great parrying system, interesting and unique boss fights constructed around main gameplay features makes every encounter a joy to play.

5Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the most amazing game, I can't even believe how good this game is. It's epic from the start to the finish. It sticks to its word about being able to cut at will. I didn't ever want to put it down, it's kind of sad that it wasn't longer. The developers did a great job with this game, I'm so glad I purchased it even though I have never been a fan of the Metal Gear series.

Rising Straight to the Top!
5Unlike its predecessors, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance encourages action. It still has stealth elements, but they are optional and, in my opinion, not recommended. You see, by battling you acquire Battle Points (BP), which can then be used to buy and upgrade weapons, costumes, extra health, energy and skills, which will be needed as you progress through the game. Secondly, the battles themselves are VERY well done. Boss battles in particular are memorable and clever in their execution. The QTE's (if you can even call them that) actually work well, mimicking actual gameplay while adding in a certain cinematic flair that most games can't pull off. The main pull, however, is Blade Mode. This allows you to control Raiden's sword freely, destroying certain objects however you feel like. You'll be using it a lot in combat, mainly to finish of enemies, so it's good that it never gets old or boring. That's really all you need to know. The story is a bit confusing at times and the soundtrack is awesome, but the core of this game is definitely in the battles. Pick this up if you haven't already!

Metal Gear Rising Review
5Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an addictive, challenging action game. The actions makes you want to come back for more and more. The cut-scenes of this game never gets boring and are of high quality. The game's camera is a little annoying at times, but forgivable. Slicing your enemies with Zandetsu Ability is the standout of this game, and it's a very interesting feature. The VR missions are tough, but satisfying once completed. Any fans of hack and slash would not want to miss out on this game. The PS3 version of this game can lag at times. I have experienced 2 freezes which couldn't be fixed without resetting my console manually.

Metal Gear Awesome!
5I wasn't sure about purchasing this game when I heard the news that Hideo Kojima wouldn't be taking the reigns. I have always been a massive fan of the Metal Gear games and I must say I was rather sceptical about taking the game in a completely different direction. Metal gear was always about Stealth. So I was thinking how could they possibly make a Metal Gear game that isn't defined by the stealth but more to do with the action? Well, I hate being wrong. This game is superbly made. The graphics are sublime. The old Metal Gear oddness and humour is still there for the comedy value. The cut scenes are as fantastic as ever and the story is well written. The combat system takes some time to get used to, but once you figure it out then you will get right into the game and never look back. The DLC that is included with the game is a must for avid Metal Gear fans because it allows you play as Grey Fox. Overall I have given this game 5/5. Its a great addition to the Metal Gear family and for this price you can't really complain.

5Metal Gear is one of my favorite games of all time and will always be...I have played from the first game of the franchise until the last one, I even asked my dad to buy a ps1 for me wen i was young just to play Metal Gear. This new edition to the franchise is also a wonderful collection to the franchise, amazing graphics and the gamplay's superb..even played twice after finishing the first time, although critics were not really impressed with the game, for me and the fans of mgs..this game is one of the best games in history and will always be.
