I loved Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. I always prefer to play subbed, so I'm happy it gives you the option.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is pretty good and it has evolved since Naruto: Generation. There has been some gameplay changes like - Ringouts, More Jutsu, Flick Awakening, new characters, new maps etc. Ringouts is rare during online as it is based on the map that has a 'Warning sign' which is saying it is a ringout area, however you must break the same wall of the area 3 times in order to do the ringout. Jutsu is just new jutsus, you've got to make sure you practice in order to be familiar with it otherwise you'll see the unexpected. Flick Awakening can only work on some characters and it is good for some and bad for others depending on what it is. New characters that can be broken if you use it correctly. The game is based on combos or spammers since the players will likely make you use your substitution and then attack you all out in order to win. Fully Awakening (when you are dying) is useful to turn the situation around however you can still get jutsu, special and triple special-ed during awakening so I'm not sure if it useful or not but if you can block or guard the timing, then it's fine. Overall I give it a rating of 4.5/5 or 9.5/10 since I like the game and play online but there are a majority of people with 2 bar connection which makes it bad / lag during gameplay, so it may be frustrating for some people. Just make sure you don't pick them for your online matches unless you don't care and you just want to have fun.

The Ultimate Fighter?

Having been a fan of the Ultimate Ninja series which originated on the PS2, I bought Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 upon release. I was instantly blown away by it, but thought that, despite the incredible boss battles, the Ultimate Adventure mode was a bit lacking in story. The main improvement in Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is that the story is told MUCH better. Beginning during the Nine Tails' attack 16 years ago, the story follows Naruto and his friends just before and during the events of the 4th Great Ninja War. While the story is incredible, the game lacks in the overworld. Requests are sparse at the best of times after finishing the story and, although you are given a lot of space, there's just not enough exploration. However, as a fighting game, it excels! Battles feel better than they were in UNS2 (I haven't played Generations), and the roster is pretty good. If you're a fan of the franchise, buy it! If you like fighting games, buy it! If you want something a little bit different from most games, buy it still! This is one purchase that you won't regret!

Ok but not great..

As a massive Naruto and Storm series fan, I have to be honest and say this game isn't particularly a great improvement in the series. Instead of taking a step forward it steps sideways. It introduces some new mechanics like instant awakening for some characters, extra awakening abilities for others, new team attacks, ring outs on certain stages. There's more but none of it is spectacular, nothing that really dynamically changes the fights. The return of the actual story mode (missing from Generations in any proper form) is good. This is filled with some great animated scenes and a return of some of the epic boss fights of Storm 2...however, there aren't enough of them, and certain key fights in the series that you think deserve to be proper boss battles are missed. Other negatives include characters missing from the roster that really should be there. To name a few; reanimation Kages, Seven Swordsmen, Gold and Silver brothers and frankly many more that would have made great additions to the roster. There are 'over 80' characters, but 8 of them are part 1 characters, and other slots make up duplicate characters (Naruto, Sasuke, Gaara, Killer Bee to name only a few). Add to that very little to nothing has been done to improve side characters that have shown plenty new (Juugo, Suigetsu) and the roster soon gets very disappointing. I think Generations took the shine off this game, as most of the main battle improvements were made there, however this game does offer a 'full' story mode so it is overall a far more complete package. If you are a Naruto fan and haven't got any other games, then this is a great place to start. If you're a Storm series veteran like me, you will still enjoy this game thoroughly, although I believe their may be issues with overall replay value as online is same as ever, and the trophy/achievements are pretty straightforward. All in all, a worthwhile buy for any Naruto fan, but if you're familiar with all the past Storm entries, prepare for slight disappointment.

Fan service at it's finest

This is my first Naruto game and I must say that I was quite impressed. It looks gorgeous, minus the jagged vs screen models, and the music is lovely. Combat is exciting and deeper than you might think, with some of the best online opponents showing how much skill is required to master this game. The story mode has also been given a lot of attention and is just like watching the anime. Unfortunately, once the story mode is completed, you are presented with very shallow sub quests, coupled with lousy non canon storylines and a very poor set of collectables to purchase. The real charm is left in discovering all the character's abilities and enjoying the survival, tournament and online battles. Definitely a great game for fans, but everybody else should steer clear.

Great, but wish you could play as some characters that you fight in the main story. Aside from that I love Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3.
