This game is simply amazing. It's pure fun. Multiplay/Coop gameplay is awesome. I hope there will be a Bulletstrom 2.

Unexpected

An FPS full of action with excellent gameplay and a poor story. But who cares about story when you get a lot of fun? Like the promotion says, "KILL WITH SKILL!!!"

Very Good

Bulletstorm is brilliant for the price and has a good story. Graphics and detail are good too, it's so much fun using the grapple hook flinging and kicking people all over the place.

Style over substance but good fun

4

Pros + Amazing graphics - both in terms of artistic design and technical accomplishment + Great gameplay that incorporates lots of little 'good ideas' and brings them together brilliantly + Decent campaign length and lots of replayability Cons - Abysmal script & Annoying characters - Lame 'Xtreme' style Like a Hollywood blockbuster, Bulletstorm is an experience you'll enjoy purely for the resources thown together and the spectacle thereby created. There are lots of special effects, set pieces and pretty images due entirely to the massive budget this game had, but ultimately it is easily forgotten in terms of story telling. A bargain at under 20 pounds and a must buy at it' current price (8 pounds).

Kill with skill

4

Bulletstorm is the newest game from People Can Fly, a Polish developer whose most notable game before Bulletstorm was Painkiller. Painkiller was brutal, circle-strafing, old school, FPS fun in the vein of Serious Sam. Bulletstorm has a much more fleshed out story mode that follows the exploits of space bandit Grayson Hunt and his merry men. Together they meet strange new life forms and promptly kill them all the while spewing funny (and more often than not obscene) one-liners. In addition to the single player game there are two notable modes: Echoes and Anarchy. Anarchy is a co-operative online mode in which a team of up to four people fight enemy waves of increasing difficulty. It is similar to Horde mode in Gears of War and Firefight in Halo. Echoes let´s you play parts of the single player campaign trying to collect as many points as you can in the shortest time possible. This is the reason I personally picked up the game. It reminds me of the countless hours spent grinding the challenges in TimeSplitters 1-3. Good times! The only real gripe is the non-standard control scheme. It plays very differently to many other shooters. The developers should have taken the Crysis 2 way: several control schemes shamelessly copied from popular FPS-games. No matter if you play BF, COD or Halo, you felt right at home. Not so with Bulletstorm. But after the difficult transitional period you really start having fun and racking up inventive kills in rapid succession. Bulletstorm brings back one aspect often overlooked in modern shooters: fun. The empowering feeling of mowing down dozens of baddies with powerful weapons. The childish joy of shooting a an enemy with a rocket and watching his head fly to one direction and his limbs to four others. If that sounds like something you´d enjoy, then 1: get your head examined, and 2: buy Bulletstorm!

brillant action -

crude and totally wicked humor. If you are looking for a first person Gears of War you might just love this game. The action is fast paced, the graphics stunning and the sound immersive. And with the nice deal on zavvi there is no further excuse to not pick it up.

Love it

I still have about 30 sealed copies of Xbox games bought on Zavvi. I don't have enough time and/or will to play even weekly, but now decided to lower the amount of games and to start playing more. My logic was simple - to start with older and less interesting games like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and Red Faction Armageddon and save the best (LA Noire, Battlefield 3 etc.) for last. I thought that Bulletstorm is just another "OK shooter", but I was wrong. Especially considering that I had played till 2 AM yesterday (and I needed to wake up qite early). I just couldn't stop, thanks to: 1. Great characters. I like their dialogues - funny as hell sometimes. 2. Really beautiful visuals. The game is stylized, but it's soo nice and colorful. 3. Various levels. Even though it's a generic shooter where you just kill tons of enemies (you also upgrade your weapons here, but that doesn't make the game RPG) - each level is unique. There are a lot of repetitive games out there and this one is different. 4. Skillshots. I thought that this is a bit pointless and needed only to gather some points needed for upgrades/ammo, but some shots are so...odd that you can't stop until you manage to do these. I can continue, but my final thought won't change - the game is great. I usually don't play for more than 2 hours, but this one kept me interested mor about 4. I think that I finished at least 50% in one go. Great game.

A FPS REVOLUTION!

5

This game is truly breathtaking. The last time I was this taken aback by such a thing is when I played Burnout 3: Take-down on PS2 as it provides a primal rush from start to finish. Though the single player is quite short its not dull on playability as you desperately want to get all of the skill-shots. The multi-player is quite exciting as its just the name of it (Anarchy) that just makes you eager to play though its more of a co-op mode than proper multi-player.
