Report this reviewTough Game, not for me
3This game is billed as one of the toughest RPG's available, huge boss battles and an unforgiving difficulty level. That is exactly what it is, it's super hard and unless you have huge levels of patience this game isn't for you. A lot of reviews say that you have to give it time and that the game is very rewarding if you stick at it and if you can do that then fair play to you. For me it didn't work and after a few hours I decided that life was to short. Hope you have more fun than me, if you love Japanese games, RPG's and super hard games then this is for you.

5During the short amount of time i have played this game i have learned that literally everything is trying to kill you, i have put 108 frustrating hours into this game. I love it, i can't stop playing it, it's the only game i play.

5Hard gameplay, excellent story and really hard boss fights. Thats you can say about this game but if you enjoy such games, its something for you. For me, it reminds old-school RPGs, where difficulty level "Hard" was actually hard.

3really good game ruined by being to hard to progess through .great graphics and style of gameplay ,maybe the makers should look at introducing varying difficulty levels.

5In an era of dumbed down games that seem afraid to challenge gamers in case they lose interest Dark souls bucks the trend big time,at times in borders on the impossible but once it has it's claws into you it will practically take over your life
Report this reviewBeautiful, amazing, hellish
5Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is as unforgiving as games of 25 years ago, but with amazing graphics and atmosphere. Dark Souls is very similar to Demons Souls, right down to the control method and layout. It's an evolution of Demons Souls' ideas, rather than a revolution. As Demons Souls is in my top 5 of games of all time, that's no bad thing. The game has no music in it but bags of atmosphere, with a decent surround sound system you can practically feel the wind on your back or enemies breath on your neck. The enemies are always lethal, even the early ones. You can kill with one swing of your sword later in the game when you have been levelling up like mad. Complacency and confidence are the problem, you take an extra swing when you should really have retreated or used your shield. The bosses in this game are easily on par with Demons Souls, but the main difference is this game has no hub area. The whole world is as open and expansive as a console game will get this generation. You open shortcuts to other areas when the area boss is defeated and/or you acquire a key. This game is not your pick up and play sort of game, it requires you to invest a lot of time and commit enemy attacks to memory. The game does suffer from slight slow down in certain areas, but this is not game breaking. The ability for you to summon another online player for assistance with a difficult boss or to be invaded by another player after your precious humanity and souls is easier to understand than Demons Souls. The sheer number of upgrades for weapons and armour does boggle the mind.

5This game is just great, but be prepared to die. I'm only about half way through the main story line and I must have died more than I have during any other game I've ever played - combined! For the size of the game the graphics are brilliant and the design of the surroundings set this game up to be dark and sadistic and you never know what's around the corner! Can't wait for Dark Souls 2!

4I bought Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for my son and he has not stopped playing it. It hasn't quite knocked Halo from the top spot but it is a close second.
