A decent but not perfect ending

Firstly I think it's important to point out that, if your yet to play the other 2 games in this trilogy, you really should. Whilst it is possible to play this game without being up to date with the series, a proper understanding of the plot lines is what really makes this game enjoyable. In this, the final instalment, we finally get to see the full might of the reapers as they begin their age of annihilation against the milky way. Along the way you will meet up with many friends and acquaintance's whose lives you have affected though-out the previous games, whether that was for the better or worse. Ultimately this is where this game has excelled in it biggest strength, the deep and well designed story. Fans of the series should be delighted to see how their characters previous choices have shaped the lives of others in the galaxy. I personally found the attention to detail in this respect to be brilliantly implemented by the developers. The rich heritage of the Mass Effect universe is what really makes this stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, that's pretty much where the praise ends. The gameplay is much the same as number 2 with one major difference. The addition of what can only be described as completely useless kinect integration. Whilst the voice commands do work quite well, responding when and where they should, they are still prone to a few hiccups. Most notably is the fact that it regularly picks up the slightest noise and tries to convert this into a command. More than a few times I found that chatter from background characters could trigger actions via kinect. Overall the biggest problem is that the commands are just largely pointless, when the choice is between pressing the "a" button or trying to read out some random statement, the "a" button wins more often than not. As for the fight scenes I personally got so used to pausing the action whilst applying tactics in the previous 2 games that when it came to it, I barely used kinect here either. Then of course there is the multiplayer. I'm personally of the opinion that really there was just no need for this. The single player game is good enough on it's own to simple not warrant a multiplayer mode. I've had a quick look and it's not completely terrible but something tells me that within a few months trying to get a match will be next to impossible. One can't help but feel that, instead of spending time creating an unnecessary multiplayer, they really should of spent more time fleshing out the single player experience. In summary this was an enjoyable game although maybe not as enjoyable as it should of been. The devs have done a great job in bringing a lot of stories to a close but seem to of got a little distracted by gimmicks and pointless on-line features. Well worth getting if you've enjoyed the series so far, just don't expect complete brilliance.

One of the most immersive games i've played.

Brilliant story, great gameplay. It seems that a lot of the problems Mass Effect 2 had have now been fixed. No game is perfect, but this is close to perfection. A must buy for anyone into space/sci-fi adventures.

Space drama at its finest

After playing Mass Effect 1 and 2, I had to finish the journey that is this magnificent space opera. A great game with excellent gameplay and a good story. Definitely a purchase for all sci-fi fans.

I was absolutely amazed by how good this game is. I am still in two minds about whether a fourth instalment would work or not though.

Mass Effect 3 shows great game-play right from the start, with interesting character options, and a nice variety of ways to customise your game-play to your personal liking. Most of the game is interactive, even in a few cut scenes, you get to take an action, or choose a speech option. A number of side quests and missions separate to the main story line can be completed, so the single player mode can be either longer or shorter depending on how you play it. However, the main story isn't too short itself. There is also an online multi-player mode which is a wave-based objective game, that's good fun when playing with friends. The one thing I don't like about the multi-player is that there is only one mode. Despite this, the single mode on offer should keep you occupied for a while, as there are different classes and characters to level up and customise. All in all Mass Effect 3 is an amazing game, and if you have played the other two games in the trilogy, it will link in nicely with your own previous events. However, if you haven't played the previous games, don't let that put you off. There is still plenty of story-line to pick up on and new characters in particular. I definitely recommend it.

Mass Effect 3 offers you lots of memorable moments with the characters you've been getting to know for two games already, and the game-play experience has been enhanced, meaning it's better than ever. I highly recommend Mass Effect 3, it's brilliant.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 is simply a brilliant game. The single player is excellent, and keeps you playing with a very good story, and lots of fantastic action. The cover system is good and allows you to take a break from the action and recover your shields and so on. A new feature that has been added, is the ability of being able to have 1 bonus power that you get for character interaction. The characters are great, and the speech is also fantastic. One problem that I found, was that sometimes, a character would go invisible when talking to them, but it only happened once or twice throughtout the whole game, so its not a massive problem. The new gun customization option is also a good implementation to the series, as well as being able to add 2 attachments to your gun, improving it's effectiveness. These attachments range from having a damage boost, to being able to penetrate through light cover and armour. The multi-player is also an excellent addition to the game, and when I first heard that they were going to add it to mass effect, I thought it was a bad idea, but when I played it, I found it very fun, and a good way to lengthen the campaign, by playing a few multi-player matches in between missions. There is only one game type, where the aim is to survive waves of enemies, with some waves having additional objectives to complete. It's a very fun game type, and it comes with 3 levels of difficulty. A nice bonus is the fact that you get credits for completing the missions and finishing a whole set of waves. With these credits you can buy packs that have different items in them, and this is how you can unlock different characters, guns, attachments and other various items to help you to survive. Overall, Mass Effect 3 is a very enjoyable game, and I will be playing the multi-player for a long time to come, to try to achieve all the different characters and weapons. I will also be playing the single player again, but on "insane" difficulty to see how that compares. It's a must-buy for any RPG fan.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 for the best part of the experience is an amazing game. Full of drama, suspense, action, this game pulls out all the punches to make you feel like this is your very own story as commander Shepard. All your choices in the previous games really do shine through here and at some points in the game, you can see the results in how your actions have made an impact on the way certain races act towards you, and respond to you, from your previous encounters. Don't get me wrong, for the best part its amazing. You get closure with everyone you have come to care about, and the last mission starts out in fantastic fashion! You really feel like the earth is in need of serious help. But, then you get to the last 15-or-so minutes. Not only do you feel like you are being sent down a linear path where you have no choice, but it throws in a heap of confusing, nonsensical garbage at you that really leaves you feeling like for all your effort and money, Bioware has just slapped you in the face with their rude bits... and it makes you forget all about the good experiences the game franchise has provided over the last 5 years. So there you have it; for the best part, Bioware gave us a gold brick of a game, just to drop a deuce on top of it. No matter how much they try to clean it off with downloadable content, and attempt to make me forget what they did to my gold brick, I will always have that image of that deuce in the back of my mind, dropping my trust of them. Mass Effect 3 is an amazing game, but the story, is a huge let-down.

Mass Effect 3 is immense. Simple as. From the very start, you're pulled into the action, and have to make some hard choices. As the game progresses, you start to repetitively decide whether you help somebody and sacrifice something, or not help them and make yourself stronger. The galaxy is now more dangerous than ever with the arrival of the reapers. you need to use stealth and speed to your advantage. Everything small contributes to the bigger picture, and because of this, you need to continuously think of what will help you and what will hinder you. The combat in this game is vastly improved form Mass Effect 2, and playing the game with the volume up very high, makes the sound effects sound simply amazing. There is a nice mix of combat with story-telling, and I believe this makes Mass Effect 3 the best game in the series. The environments are spot on, in the way that they don't make you feel safe, where ever you go. You will constantly find yourself watching your back, checking your corners, and clearing each room, before you move on. Just in case something jumps at you from behind. Overall, Mass Effect 3 is an outstanding game, and I highly recommend it.

As soon as I started playing Mass Effect 3, I loved it. It can't be described as anything other than a simply amazing game, that is much better than it's 2 predecessors, and is really worth the purchase. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Action/RPG games, or to anyone who is looking for something different.
