I had this preordered for months as I had been excitedly awaiting the UK release of this game, and as release neared, I couldn't wait. An absolute beauty of an edition, and a wonderful game to boot, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

Quite simply, this is the best JRPG I have ever played and the best game I have played since the Dreamcast era of gaming. Modern games are mostly rubbish but this harks back to when games were full of wonder. It's one of the greatest looking games ever. Never before have I felt like I'm playing within an anime movie world. You should all know by now that the legendary Studio Ghibli worked very closely with Level 5 during the game's production and it feels like you're playing in an interactive Miyazaki movie. I cannot fault anything about this game and I never want it to end.

You can't buy this any more unless you want to pay a small fortune, which is a shame as the contents are well worth the extra money. The book is of very high quality. I thought the game was just going to have artist's sketches but it is, page for page, the same as Oliver's book. Full of information about the spells and characters, it was nice to see such high standards going into a very limited edition. The Mr Drippy doll, Lord High Lord of the fairies, the colour does seem slightly off, as if it has slightly faded. And it was a shame that studio ghibli didn't make it as I have a fox squirrel plush toy from them and that was to a very high quality. I haven't downloaded the DLC yet, its very rare that I do unless its extra levels. The outer box and sleeve and to a high standard. A lot of thought went into designing this edition, the book being the best part, and its a shame that it was over sold by Namco. The game itself, well I don't know if its because I live in Wales (I'm not Welsh) but I find that whatever Drippy says so funny, It has a Rhod Gilbert feel to the voice acting, I know its not him, but does sound very similar. As all other reviews will say, the colour is amazing, music perfectly suited, fighting is good that you run around. It is a must buy, so get the normal edition and you will be happy.

Do you like JRPGs? Did you ever like them? I appreciate the stories, the characters and the artistry but struggle with the grind. And I hate the merciless bosses. In many ways, this Level 5/Studio Ghibli collaboration doesn't break the mould. The ways in which it has evolved from the SNES and PS one golden age of J-RPGs are welcome. For a start, you can play it on an easy setting, as the game says, to 'enjoy the story'. So that's how I chose to play it. Even then it's not 'easy' in the way most modern games are, it's 'easy' in the way old games used to be. You can't sleepwalk through the bosses and you can't completely ignore the grind or side quests and expect to defeat them even if you choose the so-called easy life. Don't worry about that, though, because Ni No Kuni's side quests are fun. Even the grinding is. You start off with your character, young wizard-in-the-making Oliver, and a fairy who sounds like Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert (except funnier). Mr Drippy - for that is this Welsh fairy's name - is the best game character since Missile the Pomeranian in Ghost Trick: The Phantom Detective. And that is a high standard to meet, I assure you. While the absolute genius of Drippy might overshadow the rest of the characters in the game, the entire cast is stellar. You would expect nothing less from this Ghibli/Level 5 dream team and you get nothing less. Having played the game, I'm reminded of the feeling I got playing Earthbound, Pokemon and Zelda. Okay, so the 'dungeons' aren't a patch on Zelda's when it comes to puzzles, but there's a similar ethos to how the game progresses. Speaking of which, if you don't turn the navigation marker off, your hand is held throughout the whole experience. This can be a good or bad thing depending on the individual, but the fact is you can turn it off. I actually enjoy the grinding and combat, even welcome it. It starts off simple, then as your party increases and you start 'catching all' the Familiars it takes on a new life. This really is the console Pokemon you've been waiting for if you want to approach it as such. If you're able to do so, it's well worth getting your hands on a copy of the Wizard's Companion. It's well made and surprisingly enjoyable to read. Of course it can even come in handy when playing the game. Don't mistaken it for a proper strategy guide though. It isn't. In all honesty, I expected to play this game for a few hours, admire the presentation, get stuck on a difficulty spike early on and give up, but even without the headline Ghibli association it's a superbly realised game in its own right.

Fantastic game and value for money as well, since the companion handbook cannot be purchased anywhere else! I recommend this game to anyone who loves RPG games. Definitely the best game of 2013 so far!

I have been doing all the side quests which are amazing the whole game is stunning with vibrant colour and great characters. I am loving this game so much. If your into RPG's and JRPG's this is for you a very unique game indeed.
