good console

The ps4 is a huge step forward for a console. Good graphics, good sound, excellent controller. On turning on the unit, it doesn't sound like jet taking off like my old Xbox did. The only real let down is that the controllers battery life is really short, around 6 hours before a recharge is needed. In all a great buy, and with some of the games arriving at the start of next year, looks like it will be the goto console for all gamers.

Received on release day although I had only pre ordered in September. Was bought as a christmas present although my son has set it up and played for a weekend. He's really pleased so thats good enough for me. The only downside is the price of ps4 games.

PS4: a good console that has the potential to become a fantastic console.

I pre-ordered this console pretty quickly in anticipation as I am a big Playstation fan, gaming since the PS1 era and I was not disappointed. To start with, the controller is definitely the best controller yet. It is slightly bigger, addressing issues many people had with the PS3 controller so you have better grip and the analogue sticks have been vastly improved too. The controller also includes a touchpad, which I wasn't a big fan of when I heard of its inclusion, but on use it doesn't get in the way and with some games, such as Killzone: Shadow Fall, it is very innovative. The console itself is much smaller than you might think. It is slightly smaller than the PS3 slimline model and is very light, so it won't take up much space and won't be too burdening to carry if you ever need to. It has gorgeous graphics and lots of RAM so it is a speedy console and the interface is very friendly and easy to use. A magnificent feature is that you can start playing a game before it is fully installed, which is a lifesaver. Some consoles have had problems, as you may have heard, but mine is working fine after two weeks and two of my friends have PS4's and they have not had any issues either. It has all the media features you would expect, such as BBC iPlayer and Lovefilm and many more to be added in the near future. The hard drive is 500GB, which in my opinion is quite small, it will likely fit around 12 retail games, but fortunately you can install a bigger hard drive if you wish but external hard drives won't be compatable. You will need PS+ to play some games online, such as Call of Duty, but do not be dismayed by the £40 a year price as it is well worth it! It also allows you to download many games free off of the PlayStation Store on the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita and I got my moneysworth instantly by downloading two games for the PS3. The PS4 may sound expensive at £349 but when you consider the Xbox One is £429 and that the PS3 on release was £599 then the PS3 is, in my opinion, priced reasonably. Xbox One probably has better games at the moment but PlayStation, in my opinion make much better exclusive games and in the future it will have many fantastic games justifying your purchase, though you wouldn't be blamed if you waited a while before you bought one. In conclusion the PS4 is a great console that is in its early days at the moment and can only improve in time, though at the moment there aren't a large amount of games available, in the near future there certainly will be, and you will be glad you made the investment.

PS4 Games consul

The design of the consul is much better looking than the PS3....the games controller is slightly bigger than the PS3's, and it's a lot better than the previous model.......it also comes with a HDMI cable which is a nice touch....also you get some ear phones which plug into the controller....another clever idea.......the actual quality of the graphics are superb.......marks out ten.......I would give it a 10

Very pleased with the console. It looks amazing, very slim design. Graphics are unreal and the game play is very smooth and responsive. The new controller is 100 times better then the ps3 version, and fits perfect in your hand. On downside I think the interface could do with changing but decently worth 10 out of 10.

So happy with my ps4, everything loads quicker and the party chat feature is brilliant, and the new dual shock 4 is alot better.

Too early to know!

I have had the PS4 since launch date and it is a good machine, the issues however are; no real games out yet for you to play that give you the wow factor, I only have FIFA 14 which is a marked improvement on FIFA 13 which I had on the PS3 but really it should be as it is the next step up (haven't got any other comparison though) I'm sure more startling games will be out in time however. Biggest big bear however is not being able to use it to play my movie collection on! Something that the PS3 had and was good at, where is the progress in that??? I have read reviews to say this will come however, just very disappointing it's not there yet!

PS4 should you?

I decided I should. The first thing you noticed is the sleek 'wedge' that is the PS4. The touch sensitive power on button powers up fairly quitely with a blue/white/orange l.e.d light (depending) on what the console is doing a bit like K.I.T.T on Knightrider. The menu, if you've had a PS3 will be familiar territory. You are able to easily select what you wish to do with a crisp, minimal menu. So far, I have only played Killzone: Shadow Fall and a blu-ray. The games graphics are excellent (a clear step up from the PS3) with more going on at any one time. It's very immersive with no drop in framerates. I believe it will take 6-12 months for the game developers to fully unleash the power of this gaming behemoth but it's looking like a good investment so far. Jump in.
