Pan's Labyrinth

I've ordered well over 30 steel-books from Zavvi in the last 2 months , most of the movies i buy ,i love , very few i buy for the art work , this has both ,good art cover and great foreign film , lot to learn in this film ,every-thing seems beautiful and innocent to a young person despite going through a rough life with good intention's , not so., definitely a good change of passe , I love the scenery in the movie as well as the steel-book cover, thumps- up !!

Pan's labyrinth steelbook

A steelbook you simply have to own because like the film it is really really beautiful. Pictures on the website or a video on YouTube do not do justice to how striking & original the artwork is. The steelbook is a work of art by itself.

Swanky

Boy, that's a fancy steel. Region B locked but I don't care because I will not be opening it. Gorgeous enough to go on display like high art. Buy it, put a frame on it, and stare in awe.

One of my favourite movies. The zavvi steelbook is great, cover represents the main theme of the movie. Credit goes to zavvi for this publication.

The steelbook this film deserves

5

I personally, prefer a steelbook to have on the cover the title of the movie, so generally this kind of steelbook doesn't appeal to me. But the Pan's Labyrinth one has to be seen in person do be truly aprreciated. The front has a wonderful picture wich does this magical film justice with its beauty. Overall a steelbook that definitely catches the eye and a must-have for any collector.

A snazzy steelbook for one of this century's finest films. Beautiful to look at, wonderfully acted, this is a fantasy classic.

Pan's Labyrinth

Very unique and beautiful steelbook. I've seen other steelbook versions for this film and didn't care for most of them. I think the artwork conveys the message of the film. I would have given it 5 stars, but it's Region B locked.

Finally Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth recieved a worthy release with fixed lossless audio after numerous not so great outings in various regions. The steelbook with the front cover artwork by Drew Struzan is lovely an addition even if the front and back don't match at all.. would have been nice if they did tho. Coming from a non-English country, I'm well used to subtitled TV shows and films so a Spanish film with English subs isn't an issue at all. Those who are afraid of foreign films because they would require reading while watching the film at the same time, are really missing out. After a while you don't even notice reading the subs anymore and following the film's events become a second nature regardless of the language. Previous UK releases both had the same, brilliant and nearly DNR free transfer but featured issues on the audio department. Initial UK disc had only lossy Dolby Digital audio whilst the Special Edition reissue got lossless DTS-HD Master Audio sound but again featured some pitch issues in its 5.1 track due the track originating from a 25fps source (1080p blu-rays are 24fps); lossless LPCM 2.0 track didn't suffer from the pitch issue tho. This steelbook release features a fixed 5.1 audio. The Scandinavian release had also a great transfer (with a few issues here and there) but the same flawed 5.1 DTS-HD MA lossless audio than the UK SE. The US release as well as the Asian releases have 7.1 audio but are riddled with usage of DNR (digital noise reduction) making the transfer look very unnaturally clean and even smudgy in many scenes. German release doesn't have any major technical issues but it isn't English friendly.
